So i effed up and left comcast on. Then they start talking about this silly "well the 6th seed looks better" crap.
Let me just say something. That's a loser mentality. First of all, there's no guarantee Florida is there waiting for you. Boston could still fall to 3rd and then get healthy and bam you have them first round. Washington or Tampa could still overtake Florida and by what I have seen from all three teams lately I'd rather not play Tampa first round.
The Flyers need to just finish strong and carry the momentum over into the playoffs. There's no easy road to the Stanley Cup. If you're scared buy a dog or go watch baseball. The only team the Flyers should be worried about beating them is the Flyers themselves. Just look at the fact they are playing better hockey and how tough they look. RIght now they can't control who the opposition will be and to worry about it is weak sauce. They can continue to build on how well they are playing and if they are playing better hockey then Boston, Pittsburgh or NY then they have nothing to worry about. |

except when they play the flyers. then all of those asshats score. - hammarby31
They won't if the goaltending is like it's been the last 8 games or so. The first step against the Rags it to not let them score on soft poop, once that is done you work from there. |

They have an issue with secondary scoring. Only 3 or 4 guys can score. If Gaborik, Callahan, and Richards hit a slump, where are they getting goals from?
Guys like Rupp, Scott, Mitchell, Bickel, Prust, Fedetenko couldn't score in a whorehouse with a fistful of benjamins. - PLindbergh31
They really don't have an issue. The Rangers are the 11th highest scoring team in the League. They only have 2 20+ goal scorers at this point. Where are those goals coming from?

Well said Joe. They were missing how many regular players tonight? And they spanked Florida 5-0. Because they played such a strong team game, and got very good goaltending. That's why the Rangers are so good. Play like they are now and get some people back. Flyers can play with anyone.
But one thing about this game. Don't get too high about it. Just like you can't get to low as some do whining about the injuries, or when the team wasn't playing well. There is always a middle ground. |

The additions of Grossmann and Kubina have taken the Flyers to another level imo. Now as you have stated if they can get healthy the Flyers will be a very dangerous team especially with Bryz playing top notch. |

I definitely ain't having a parade and said a couple pages back not to get carried away with building a statue and all that. I think it's a good win don't get me wrong. I'm more excited about last tuesday than I am tonight.
They can play with anyone. This squad reminds me of the 85 flyers in the fact hey have so much youth. They need to get healthy and maintain this level of play. Yes Bryzgalov got a shutout but like I've been preaching all year, these things will happen once the team tightens up defensively. BUt whatever I just want them to keep this level of play up. That whole drop to 6th seed stuff is nonsense. Sooner or later in the playoffs you play a tough team maybe even all four rounds. I just ain't a fan of ducking people. Bring on the Rangers or whoever if this team is a Cup team they will beat them. |

only 8 back of the rangers. they beat them in their remaining game and it's only 6. they've lost 2 in a row....anything's possible. they've faced no adversity really all year. maybe now is the time.

I agree. Play your best Hockey going into the playoffs, and who you play is who you play. Championships are won in sports by peaking at the right time and riding that wave.
I really think that Bryzgalov's struggles early in the Season, or most of the Season for that matter. Was just the perfect storm of some bad luck, some adjustment to a new team. The pressure of the contract. Which all snowballed. Now he seems to be on track. At the right part of the Season.

i agree. they scored some lucky, strange ones, and some flat out bad ones. take that crap away and the flyers might have 5 wins instead of losses. if they can keep the ship tight, they should win. they simply have more firepower. |

Thing is I think Bryz has been playing very close to this level since the new year, just the team in front hasn't been. Don't get me wrong he was terrible in a few games like the Penguins game but overall the coverage was too loose and it led to more goals. Now he trusts the defense more and isn't cheating and anticipating stuff that lead to him looking poopty. The additions of Kubina(even though he didn't play tonight) and especially Grossmann did give this team a new dimension. |

I think the Rangers style of play is tailor made for the playoffs. Goals are tougher to come by. Defense and goaltending wins.

The Rangers are 11th in the NHL in scoring, but they are currently 10th out of 16 teams who currently sit in a playoff spot in goal scoring.
Gaborik, Callahan and Richards have combined for 76 of their 181 goals, or 42%. So my original point is backed up by facts.

Could you imagine if the Rangers fall out of first place with the Pens and Flyers finishing higher?
And I'm not saying this because I hate them, in fact I like players on that team to a man except for Rupp and Dubinsky, but I just feel like they are gonna run out of gas in the playoffs. Seems like they've been playing a gear higher than the rest of the league. Come playoff time that catches up to these teams who rode atop the conference all year. I don't think a first place team has won the cup out of the East since the Tortorella Bolts and that's a totally different team than this Rangers team. |

Agreed. However the Rags havent had to face any adversity this season so it will be interesting to see how they respond if things dont go their way. Their a complete team so im sure they will be in every game. |
