I'm usually not a fan of these types of posts, but
I still find this pretty hilarious. - eayost
The Flyers and Devils have had the same amounts of post-season success in the last 10 or so years, if you don't win the cup, it doesn't mean poop how far you've go.

i have to say i feel the opposite. i always respected the devils and love defensive hockey... frustrating the hell out of the opposition every night. one reason why im such a Hitchcock fan.
and nothing is more entertaining than winning.
and its not like theyre using the Guy Boucher method of absolutely no pressure. - Crimsoninja
Absolutely right.
Just so you know, the "boring" hockey that everyone complains about is simply the cycling going on along the boards. Cycling in the offensive zone is the best way to create offense, is it boring at times yeah, but nowadays, you can't make pretty plays all the time. The way you win is by clogging up the neutral zone, whether by no pressure or tons of pressure, creating off of turnovers and counterattacks, and getting goals off the cycle or tips, it's really how every team scores, except the Leafs, but look how good they've done.

flyers pp needs some work. all perimeter, and no rotation. - hammarby31
ive been saying i want to see giroux down low more on the pp. whether its just lower along the halfwall or below the goal line. he seems to have no passing options except back to the point where they have him now

he just sends it down low or up high and almost never shoots.

I love when people say the Devils "ruined" hockey and bullpoop like this. It's (frank)ing hockey however you plan to play it, football teams can run the ball 55/60 plays, is it boring, yes, does it help them win, yeah.
Just about every team plays a 1-2-2 or left wing lock. The Red Wings made the left wing lock famous, it's merely a version of the 1-2-2 just with a different thought process, they just force the puck carrier to the left wing side from the 1-2-2 formation by having the right wing attack the puck and the left wing give him the space on the outside.
Yet, no one says poop about them. Nor do they say poop about the Pens trapping in Game 7 of the SCF, the Flyers used it when Lavy first game to Philly, the Bruins use it now, the great Habs teams used it, it's hockey for christ sakes.

yea for all the whining I had to listen to about Bryzgalov's contract it's time said complaining was made about the highest paid guy on the team not getting a goal in over two months and 20 games. IF he's hurt then scratch him, otherwise he is absolutely ineffective out there. He knew coming into this season with all these young players he would have to carry the load. Instead he's been quoted recently as sitting down a struggling team mate to straighten him out. Whoa wait a minute! Who the hell is he right now to be sitting anyone down but #48? I see people going on and on in here about Shelley, Carle etc. well guess what the highest paid guy on the team is doing doodley squat and frankly its dragging the team down with him!

People have female doged and moaned about Briere off and on for the entire time he's been here, only to prove people wrong in the playoffs every year. I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt that either a. he's injured, or b. just having a really off year due to rotating linemates for most of the season.

IF it's A then fine but you have to scratch him until he's healthy. As for B. like I said that's no excuse juggling linemates or not he's supposed to be an elite center. Elite centers are supposed to make their team mates better. Even still I have to reiterate he knew coming into this season what the deal was. Also they put Hartnell on a line with him for a little while it didn't do much. If he can't play with anyone but the hartnell-leino tandem then that's just pathetic!
Oh and for this whole he gets it done in the playoffs thing, that's all well and good but there's players making that kind of money who do both!

Briere has underperformed this year (regular season). I think most people give him a pass bc of his playoff performances. He is struggling right now there is no doubt about it. The problem with Briere is he is one dimensional so if he isn't scoring goals then he doesn't help in any other area. Briere doesn't seem to be the same player since having his concussion. As far as him talking to Bryz I dont have a problem with it bc he is a leader on this team.

In my opinion, Briere has never been an elite center. He's always been a top sniper, but only when he has the right linemates. Chemistry has always been an issue since he's been here, but that's just the type of player he is. I couldn't even tell you who he's been playing with most of the year. Danny B gets the leftovers as far as wingers go this year.

You make solid points Joe. Bottom line Briere needs to start performing.
