Do you live in or around Philly. There is a reason the fan base is the way it is... We don't rip every player that struggles. There are guys that we like, and guys we dont like.... It has more to do with attitude and work ethic then it does performance... I thought you should know that... - RooNosHockey
What it has to do with is perceptions of attitude and work ethic, not neccessarily the actual attitude and work ethic. This town doesn't like players who aren't big hitters, or that don't fight. Unless they are exceptional, this town as a whole does not support finesse players. Such as Carter and Carle, as recent examples. Regardless of how good they are.

Nope, I have never felt attacked by you, and by most people on here. I'll be honest, I'm not the best comunicator. I like agrue, actually I'll say debate, because I dont do it in a mean way. I like to talk about things... Offer point and counterpoint. I'm not so sure its as much as "throwing up shields" as it is defending my point.
I just don't like it when it becomes personal. And I hate it even more when people are passive agressive about being cyber-bullies. People want to puch people's buttons when they have no idea who is on the other side of a converstaion. - RooNosHockey
Lesson 1 - A concise joke at skip's expense would've been far more devastating. Probably something involving fishing, as I recall it'd put him to sleep (getting him out've your e-hair).

No. I don't believe I had personally attacked you, either, but when you make a BLANKET statement about a group of persons and someone disagrees with that, your shields go up faster than a ship in a sci-fi movie. - Flyskippy

Of course, there are some exceptions. Voracek comes to mind for me, I think folks recognize his work ethic on the ice, even if he's lacked some finish this season.

I have the Fanatic streaming - only because I forgot my iPod today and my Amazon Cloud player is only playing one song today.
It is my hope Lavi calls in on Missanelli's show, as he does from time to time. Once I'm in the car on my way home, WFIL 560 will be on. - Flyskippy
I have a lot of trouble with the Amazon Cloud Player and Google Music, they tend to stop loading songs rather often. I blame those Verizon bastards. Come September, I'm definitely parting ways with them.

I was stuck in the little car today to pick up kids, had a choice between the rock station that is dedicated to every Pink Floyd song ever or the local sports talk. So I listened to 15 minutes of discussion on the Redskins trade and then one idiot who said it made no sense to start Bob last night. At that point the kids learned a new word and we listened to Wish You Were Here

Slacker.
Yes. This is a personal attack.
Want to explain the Philly fan mentality to me now? - Jsaquella
Not my cup of coffee. When I'm personally attacked I ball up in the corner of my mother's basement, listening to Staind's "It's Been A While," and violently hoping that mother's world class tater tots are on the menu.
I think your being a little harsh on our fans... Its not like we go out an riot after playoff loses or anything. Its not like we throw rats and octipus on the ice and disrupt the game...
We sell out every game... We raise more money then any city in charity given by the fans... We even pack a practice rink for training camps... We are dedicated, knowledgeable, and passionate... If sometimes our passion brings out the bad in us... at least we are true to ourselves...
BTW. If you notice, we only allow ourselves to critque us or our teams... if its anyone else we all band together and defend our own.... - RooNosHockey
Is there like a secret membership club with meetings and all that I don't know about?
Again, your speaking about the minority, and dare I say, the uneducated sports fans.
As an example, when a poster like Wayne Z comes in to our thread when we play the Devils. I find him intelligent and entertaining. And I don't view him, or any fan of another team as my enemy. Simply because of where he lives geographically, hence who he is a fan of. Or who a fan chooses to be a fan of

I just wanted to make sure. Apparently I haven't absorbed enough about the Philly fan mentality, despite having lived within a 15 minute drive of every stadium used in the past 30 years for most of my life.

I disagree. We support Giroux. But I was talking about Philly in general, not just Flyers... But your right about the perception part... For example... Chase Utley "is the man" Aaron Rowan..."For who? My teammates. For what? To win," These guys cant do anything wrong, no matter how bad they get... They are Philly guys... While Ryan Howard works just as hard and isnt as beloved... Jimmy Rollins is a punk IMO. I dont like his attitude, but he is a good player...
