I'll say this. When the Flyers play as they did last night, with the total team game. They can play with anyone in the League. And I think they can come out of the East if it continues. - MJL
Absolutely. They didn't play some non playoff team, either. The Devils were pretty hot and they're right in the middle of the playoff race, to boot.

Nice to see the praise for Coburn. He had a Helluva game last night. Playing with Grossmann has really seemed to help him get his game back to where it needs to be.
The officials sucked both ways last night. The Hell with making radical gameplay changes, the NHL should look at current refs and their inability to call a game well. Get rid of the Jacksons, Augers and Peels. - Jsaquella
I agree. If they have someone ovetlooking player safety and reviewing every questionable hit, why don't they have someone to overlook every questionable call a ref makes? If they held refs accountable then i believe you'd see more consistency from them. I think that's the biggest thing the nhl needs to look at. And I'd hire kerry fraser to do the job

How about Bryz! Keep it going big man!
It was nice to hear Danny in the post game say something like “Bryz is so locked in rite now he is making the tough saves look routine to the point that the guys on the bench question whether it was really that good of a chance!”
Cooter playing the role of shutdown checking center!!! LOVE IT!
At one point in the game last night I remember asking “is Kovalchuk playing?” That was how dominant the Cooter line was against the devils top line.
Awesome team game last night, the gaps were small and the forwards supported the defense.
Grossmann and Coburn look great together.
Danny finally getting one, he looked so relieved!
Congrats to Coburn for achieving 100 assists in his NHL career!
I appreciate the catches. Hardest thing is to proof and edit your own stuff, especially on short sleep. To me, it shows people are reading and paying attention, so it's a positive when they bring errors to my attention.
There was one call where the ref at the near to the play south end was looking at the complaining player shaking his head no as the far north ref raised his arm. Teamwork, boys. - bodiva88
Yeah, I believe that was the call on Schenn. You could see on the broadcast that the ref in the end the play occurred kind of shrugged when the whistle blew.
They missed stuff that the Flyers got away with, too. It wasn't a "Flyers Got Shafted" thing. But the call on Grossmann's first high stick and the goalie interference calls on Hartnell were pretty bad, IMO. Both times Hartsy was shoved into Brodeur, and Grossman was trying to play the puck and the "high" stick was a follow through.

I miss having Brian Metzer on the site, and seeing people confuse you guys

I absolutely loved the little spear from Cooter on Kovalchuk. AND it took him off the ice for 2 minutes.

Fraser would be a great head of refs, but he'd never get the job. He has a brain and will speak his mind. Hell, I'm amazed they hired Shanahan as head of player safety.
I do like that he's continued to do the videos, even if I disagree with some of his rulings.

I'm thrilled to see Grossmann's play rubbing off on Coburn. Last night he looked like he did in the '08 run. If he finally reached that level of play consistently, and carries it into the playoffs, it will be a huge jolt to the team as well.
Grossmann needs to stay here. Get him signed, Homer!

No doubt. Snarly Coburn is a heck of a D-man!
I don't think Holmger has much of an option, he needs to sign Grossmann.

I'll have to respectfully disagree. They aren't pushovers by any stretch but they also aren't moving any big body in front of the net either. - pyromantic
But both guys sticks and positioning are so effective that the can cancel out alot of the down low game.

I like the videos as well. My only concern about them is that he shows exactly what he's looking at while making a ruling. And in the age of youtube, tivo, et al, it allows fans to do the same thing with whatever game they're watching. I feel like it opens the door for more criticism against him because some people will feel he's ruling unfairly eg. Garth's blog about Myers.

You are talking about 2 different things in my opinion. Getting pushed around, and the ability to physically move someone are not the same. Neither Carle or Timonen get pushed around on the ice.

I might say that's more "they don't push people around" than "they get pushed around", but they aren't known for being the most physical defensemen on the Flyers, no. That said, I'm fine with putting our two "snarl" guys on one pairing, it seems to be working. It's working for Coburn, at least.

There will always be morons. At least now it's not Colin Campbell tossing out verdicts without explanations.

There's always going to be fan criticism, especially on youtube. I do like that he puts his reasoning on the line, it feels a lot less cloak and dagger.
