Pretty much yea. I'd like to get Kubina for more than one year but he's no spring chicken either. As for Jagr I actually find him most expendable on that list. I'd really hate to overpay for a player in the twilight of his career. - JoeRussomanno
Exactly. I like Jagr (still weird to type that ) especially what he brings as far as an example to younger guys like G, Cooter, and Schenn. If they can sign him for a little less than he got this year. Do it. Maybe even give him the same if the cap goes up. He ain't getting a raise though He says he has plenty of money and he likes it in Philly. If he is shooting straight they should be able to work out a fair deal. He knows he ain't a hart trophy candidate anymore and I get the impression he likes just being one of the guys instead of "THE GUY".
Parise will cost a lot and I want no part of Semin. He is morphing into Zherdev before our eyes. They don't need to add expensive forwards. Having Cooter, Read, and Schenn back with a year under their belts should equal more productivity. Simmonds, Giroux, and Jake V. should all improve a bit too. They will be good offensively assuming Hartnell's season isn't a total fluke and Briere doesn't hit severe decline. I see them either bringing Jagr back at a reasonable price or adding a solid depth/faceoff/defensively responsible veteran presence. But...jesus...lets focus on the now, mang. Playoffs are right around the corner and the team is showing signs of rounding into the form you'd like to see in the second season.
- Lexington Flyer
There are a lot of guys having career years this year, and I just hope they can continue the trend, but you can't expect them all too. (Hartnell, Talbot, Simmonds, Giroux) Then you have to worry about the sophmore slump from the rookies.... (Read, Couturier, Schenn) And you have to hope that Vets that had an off season this year also return to form (Briere, JVR) And hope you get the same production you expect from players like Voracek, Jagr, Rinaldo...
I know we are in the strech drive, and the team is doing really good. I pat the team on the back for now, but it doesnt hurt to look to the future as something to talk about.
I'd keep Coburn and Grossmann if I can. Long haul I don't like Carle and Kimmo as a pairing at all, but in the short term I think it can work. It looks like Kubina will be back shortly. At that point he can be paired with Kimmo. Once everyone is back I'd prefer Mez with Kimmo and Kubina with Carle. I think this way you get the best balance of skating ability and snarl on each pairing. - pyromantic
It seems that Coburn plays similarly to his partner. Kimmo is more of a finesse player and Coburn wouldnt be as physical. Grossmann is more physical and it seems like Coburn feeds off that. I agree...keep Coburn/Grossmann, Kubina and Carle and Meszaros and Kimmo

Anyone know anything about this injury to Callahan? All I found is their thread where it says this could actually be a fracture. Just wondering, like to keep an eye on the enemy

Someone needs to give Lundquist a fracture... Anyone have Tonya Hardings Number?

I hope you dont. See I'm the kind of person that likes to debate things. The more I debate, the more I learn. Sometimes I just play devils advocate just to hear people's opinions. I dont debate to change people's minds as much to get them to respond with their opinions so I can understand.
I think every team would say that..except maybe Dallas! - pyromantic
Remember when Bill said he was nothing special... Like Ulf Samualsson. We must have gotten a different Grossmann then in Dallas. I wonder if he ever played like this down there.

he was a monster - FlyerMike18
I said earlier this week that Grossmann reminds me a bit of big Hatcher. He isn't quite as flat out nasty as Hatch, but he has some mean to his game. I love it.
