Are you kidding?
You don't watch very many Leafs games. He was phenomenal in that stretch last year. If we had that kind of goaltending all last season, we would have made the playoffs. Not just make them, we would have made some noise. - thomas81

Emelin is thrice the player Komi is in the physicality department and he doesnt cost 5M $. He's also a better skater and passer. - PRICEless

100% spot on, sir. Still, Ottawa looks better in the long-term IMO. - Jayden
And for the second part, I hope you're right (just as much as you obviously hope you're wrong )
I do happen to think that the cap situation/system of the Senators puts them in the top third of teams as far as long-term potential goes, but then again it's hard to be objective about these things... I'm only a fan after all, not a scout
Anyways, as much as it sucks for Habs fans that the bottom fell out of your team this year, the pick certainly ain't gonna hurt! |

This is why Kaberle + pick/prospect for Komi is a perfect trade. - thomas81
So, Komi is better than Kaberle, and so the Habs have to throw in a pick. I agree. |

The difference between the Senators and Habs is not in terms of the young talent currently on their rosters... Of all the young players on either roster, I would take Karlsson first... But then I would take Price, Patches, and Subban before I took Cowen, Smith, Foligno, et al., so it's pretty much a wash there.
but of the veteran/prime aged guys, the guys that are paid to be top guys are playing like top guys this season... Alfredsson, Spezza, Michalek, whereas Gomez, Gionta, Plekanec, and previously Cammalleri had all been worth considerably less than their cap hits suggested....
That's the difference. If the Habs can replace those bad contracts with better ones, they could easily be as good or better than the Senators in the medium to long term...
(could be easier said than done) - Mr_Clean
Well said, although I wouldn't put Pleky in there, he's had a tough year yes, but the poor bugger has played with everbody but the janitor this year. |

Probably the sole reason why we aren't in a playoff spot right now. |

Yeah, I didn't really want to put him in the same category as Gomez which is why I just kinda stuck him on the end there... I think he's gonna be a serviceable player for years to come, somewhat overpaid for what he provides, but not an anchor weighing down the team in the same way that the other two are.... |

Kaberle is a decent puck mover. He makes too many defensive mistakes. The Leafs have other good defensemen who can make up for those mistakes.
Komisarek would be a good addition for the Habs. Big and can play a physical brand of hockey. |

The fact that you can compare a guy who's played what 50 games in this league to a veteran defenseman.
Emelin is a rookie. Komisarek is not. |

He's exactly what the Habs need. Kaberle with Schenn would be perfect for you guys. |

I like the kid. I would have kept him with the Marlies though.
I attend like 20 or so Marlies games per year. Team is real solid this year. A championship isn't out of the question.
