I never thought the Bruins were actually the best team in the league last year, but they were the deepest team and depth wins in the playoffs. No one could role 4 lines to the effect that Boston could. But if you gut that depth (say, through injuries or suspensions) it becomes easier to target those Bruins left that are most effective.
There's also something to be said about TT, who has looked downright awful of late. Nothing demoralizes players more than soft goals consistently getting past you. Unfortunately, with Rask's injury, TT is on pace to start the most games he's done in 5 years. He's not a spring chicken, he needs some rest. Turco is a zero but I'm sure that's obvious.
I still think Boston is tailor-made for the playoffs and will step it up in the post-season. Question is, playing .500 hockey for so long, can they suddenly flick the switch in 3 weeks' time?
Losing 1 game by 1 goal to a team you man-handled 3 times at home last year didn't cause this...
That old-bag of a racist Republican in your crease refusing to accompany his team-mates to a meeting with the President, however....
I said it right then that he would screw with the Bruins hot streak by sucking out like a little kid who wasn't allowed McDonalds on the way home from hockey practice.
Between the Canucks game and the White House ceremony, Boston played 8 games, winning 5 of them and collecting points in 6 of 8...they were perfectly fine after that afternoon lose.
Next time maybe Timmy won't be such a selfish (frank) and actually just go along with something he doesn't really want to do, like the other 99.9% of us.

The thing that I and most Penguins fans noticed in the last Bruins/Penguins game is that all the Pens did was chip it past the Bruins D and crash them all game. I Chara get knocked over twice in that game which I don't think I had ever seen prior to that. At one point the hits stat flashed and it said Penguins: 10 Bruins: 3. Normally in a game like that the Bruins would come back just as physical, but they seemed to just accept it. Perhaps you are right in thinking that they have had their teeth pulled.
That's the opening of the game. CBC is the best around in any sport at the beginning of the show in the playoffs. Get's your heart racing if your team is involved.

Watching the Rangers vs. Penguins last night... NBC has by far the best HD picture quality of any of them. It was amazing watching it on my new 55 inch LG LED tv with tru motion.

That game would have looked good on any TV.
Back to CBC, this is one of my favorite openings. But if you choose to watch it be forewarned there's alot of Crosby/OV.
They just need to get healthy(if possible) and they'll be just fine. As Alex mentioned above, they won because of their depth last year and all these injuries have obviously effected that depth. They don't have the elite offensive player that can carry team team during a situation like this.
They're still my pick in the East unless Crosby is actually healthy and playing in the playoffs.
