Brooks, albeit a bit misinformed on some of what he wrote, is simply holding the Owner and GM accountable for being terrible for 5 straight years. That's all.

Very true. Regarding the Mets having the 3 or 4 highest payroll again shows they were at least trying to win even if like the Rangers they spend money poorly. Teams that do this will get the benefit of the doubt. The Isles who have a minor league payroll and GM and Coach and wait for the lottery every year will not get the benefit of the doubt.

Exactly Right. The Mets up until this year were always in the top 6 or 7 at worst in pay roll. You can bash the Wilpons for many things but to say they accepted losing isn't accurate. They changed GM's recently because Omar wasn't getting the job done. We have zero chance of that happening with the Isles.

Like it or not Larry hit a nerve with some Isles fans. The truth hurts. If you have an owner that honestly tries to win most fans are going to support the team. No owner and GM is going to be perfect. Mistakes will be made the key is the effort has to be there. Most fans can tell when an honest effort is being made and I cannot see how anyone can say Charles is making an honest effort.

What ever happened to responsible reporting, even if he writes more editorially than as a "reporter?" Of course Wang/Snow are responsible or at fault but what is Larry's point? Is there one? Is he suggesting they fold the team? Sell? Contradicts what he wrote previously. Nonsense. Loser of a journalist. Opinions are like bumholes....everyone's got one.

How about the story of the Rangers late season slump?....don't look behind you Larry but here come Pittsburgh & Philly.... Now that's actually a newsworthy story but ah....who cares...let's rag on the Isles.

I really hate to defend Larry and the Rangers but his point was for Charles and Garth to try to win and to run the Isles like a real NHL team. A late season slump is better than a year long slump. The Rangers are in first place. They can afford a slump.

Who else is holding the Isles accountable? Anyone that has, has been shooed away from this owner.

I've said in the past that I'm not anti Snow as of yet. Mainly because I think he has been given almost no resources. That is on Wang. Wang is an owner that is silent and that silence tells the rest of the hockey world and his own fans that he has accepted losing and won't change how the team is run to change that.

That to me is unacceptable. I think there is a giant disconnect between Wang and the fan base. The Black Jerseys are a perfect example. 90% of the fan base and hockey world thinks they are awful. They look like a (frank)ing roller hockey team. An argument can be made that it's only jerseys, and thats true, but its an example of how poorly management understands it's fan base. There are still 3 times as many orange jerseys in the stands from 6 or 8 years ago then these black pieces of poop.

Now I understand taking crap from a Ranger fan that sits in his office and throws out opinions is hard to swallow, but Brooks is the only reporter in the area that actually holds this team accountable. And while he sounds like a child while doing it, I wish Newsday would start doing the same.

I'm tired of coming in last place every year. And until the Isles freaking realize they are in the toughest division in the East, and their need to get physical and more scoring, they will remain last place in this division.

Thank you, they were due, they didn't lose 3 straight games until the last week. The Pens are also due to fall back to earth, that's how it works. I would rather slump now then in April. Also I will agree with the other poster who said Brooks should stick to the team he covers instead of always taking shots at the Isles. But I don't even think the Isles have a beat reporter for the Post, always seems like its an AP story.

This. Larry's article did not come from thin air. It all came from Charles actions or lack of actions.

No problem. I'll be in the Rangers spot any day of the week. Wang and Snow brought this all on themselves. If they did what they were suppose to do Brooks or anyone else could not get on them. At least Brooks writes about them. He pays more attention to the team than Wang does.

Brooks is more hard on the Rangers than other other of their beat guys are. He is tough, sometimes to a fault. He always seems to look at the glass as half empty. He is right though more times than not.

As I've said before I really hope the Isles can turn this around & add to what is the toughest division in hockey & it won't be getting easier anytime soon.

This is probably the biggest hurdle going against them in trying to simply be respectable. The Isles are 9 points out of a playoff spot right now. You think they would still be in it if they played in the South East? Absolutely.

But they aren't and Wang and Snow need to adjust to that and actually add some pieces to compete with that

I agree about Brooks. He has unloaded on the Rangers as well. I do not like when Brooks writes the Rangers should sign all these guys and then kills them when it does not work out. That's being two-faced. If Wang acted like most normal owners the Isles could turn things around and could be good for a very long time with the prospects they are building. It's not going to take a bunch of superstars and a huge payroll. Wang does not have to reinvent the wheel. He does have to care and that may be the biggest challenge.

Which is why I haven't jumped off the bridge yet. Snow isn't stupid. He might be inaffective so far at jump starting the progress of the team but he understands this. Maybe he can figure out a way to make some creative trades this offseason to do it if he can't sign anyone.

Kyle Okposo would be off this team if it were up to me at this point.

I would love to see KO traded this offseason. To me Snow has to find a way to add talent this offseason. He cannot have another offseason like last year. He's got to be willing to move some of the picks and prospects. Snow should want to show everyone what he can do. If Wang is stopping him he needs to somehow convince him to improve the team. If by some crazy reason Wang has been giving Snow the green light to improve the team all these years and Snow has not been able to get the job done then Wang needs to fire Snow this offseason before the Draft.

I pretty much agree with you. I'd probably give Snow one more year with the understanding that being out of it by Thanksgiving won't be tolerated. If the Isles have another typical 10 game losing stretch that put them out of it I'd fire him mid season.

Its crazy to me that Wang has not gotten rid of Snow just to try to get the heat off of himself. Just to show he is doing something. Shows how out of touch he really is in how many others see him.

Because we in these forums represent such a small percentage of the fan base that he doesn't hear it. He thinks everything is puppy dogs. Until the Wang must go chants start at games, he won't get it.

I like Murray too. Him, Dumba and Trouba are my guys, in that order. If it isn't Yakupov or Grigorenko we absolutely have to draft a defenseman.

Still inclined to say take the big defenseman if they don't pick in the top 2 or whatever. It's nice that it says Dumba throws "bone-crushing open ice hits," but at 5'11, I'm not sure how bone-crushing they'll be to 6'3, fully developed NHL forwards. This said having never seen anyone on that list play a single game, so take this post for the very little it's worth.

By all accounts Dumba is the biggest "boom-or-bust" prospect. He's got a real dynamic skill-set that a lot of people don't have. Keep in mind PK Subban is only around an inch taller than him, and he doesn't have a particularly large problem throwing his body around at anything that moves. Dumba would probably need some time to bulk up though (for reference: PK is 206 compared to Dumba's 166).
