honestly marty I kind of get where you're coming from but bottom line is the majority of fans love this stuff and so do the players.
I really don't see the big deal in willing guys going at it. De Boer is trying to set an aggressive tone and if Tortorella didn't want to participate he could have sent Gaborik on the ice. - dt99999
I've said countless times that I don't mind a fight in the heat of the moment between players who battle for the puck or space on the ice or after a cheapshot.
But that type of goonery is just (frank)ing ridiculous... |

This...which brings me back to what I said...why all the posturing of blaming the other coach...they send their goons - send your scorers... - number_23
Yeah, backing down in your own building surely sends a message to the other team. We surrrender!!!!!!!! |

Scoring a goal on the first shift because some idiot sent 3 goons on the ice does send a strong message.

"Would Gomez be able to contribute to a team's success without a lucrative contract hanging around his neck like an anvil? Would he reinvent himself at the league minimum?"
He couldn't contribute WITH a lucrative contract. What difference does it make? |

he's a plug who has more PIMs than games in his career but this has given him the opportunity to make a better living that working the farm or driving a forklift so I'm quite certain he will be the last one to complain. |

That half a million in salary or so a year must be difficult to justify. He should donate it all to some violence advocacy groups instead. It would be the right thing to do. |
