Lilja does just fine moving up on the play and reading it. He's made a number of big hits stepping up on the play. I'd rather have a veteran experienced defender in the 6th spot.
Due to the majority of the games left are home games, they sent Gustafsson down to get some playing time. I feel they favor the veteran and so do I. - MJL
Not me. I want him thrown into the fire to see what we really have. Im still not treating this playoffs as a cup run. They will be setup for that starting next year. I want to see his game in the playoffs and see if he holds up

Once youre in the playoffs, you have to do everything you can to win. What's the point of seeing how it goes by throwing a rookie into the fire? Every team has a chance once you're in.
I'm much more interested in winning a few rounds than seeing how Gus does in a playoff game..

I think he will do well. You got 5 other rookies that will be thrown in. Overall I like his skill set over liljas gelling with the other dmen. You have 3 puck movers on gusty, timonen, Carle. 3 stay guys in kubina, coburn, and grossman

I, too, would rather see Gusty than Lilja but for a different reason. He has looked good, most times, with Timonen. I think he brings more to the team than Lilja at this point. However, I don't think it (the "more" I mention) is such a huge gap so as to doom the team if Lilja plays instead of Gustafsson.

I agree. I want experience in there. Gus can learn next season. And anyway, someone will get hurt and he will end up in there eventually.

The concerns I have with Gus in the playoffs is that I have seen him caught watching the play at times and he gets a little "hot potatoey"Both are minor, rookie growing pain type things, but could be dangerous in the playoffs.

Agreed on its not a huge gap. Probably will see both players at some point.

True. That's a concern - as is watching a defenseman handle the puck like his stick is a spatula. Either can blow up into the back of the Flyers' net. I trust Lavi's judgment, either way (since he won't have Leighton to select as a goalie this postseason).

speaking of defenseman, seems like Kubina is trying to become the new mini-stikanen.

I just trust Lilja a little bit more. Not that he's great, but he's been there before.
