Did you see Borrows go after Keiths nuts... I think he got a lick in!
That alone is worth 2 games. |

Cause he fish-hooked Burrows first. This has all been covered. |

If Keith gets suspended like he should be then sedin should get suspended as well. Both were to the head. I say Keith gets 4 sedin should get 2 |

It should be noted that Ian is actually from Calgary.
Not to put words in his mouth, but I don't think he was comparing the actual plays or results, just the frontier justice mentality. The NHL still hasn't progressed in the respect that players not liking a hit on a previous play have no faith that the officials or league will administer appropriate justice, so they go out and seek to injure the other player to settle the score. What Keith did was set out to injure his opponent. If that wasn't his intent he would have hit Sedin's chest with his shoulder. But that's not what he did, was it? - YeOldTimer
From Victoria, live in Calgary now.

Daniel's hit wasn't a hockey hit, any hit to the head, intentional or unintentional (where the shoulder rises up accidentally) needs to be taken out of the game. Daniel's hit was a penalty, it was slightly late, from behind and the shoulder made contact with the head and under the headshot rule, it should be a penalty and no call was made. If Daniel gets 2 minutes there (which it deserves seeing as there was no injury or intent to injure), that elbow never happens. I'm not defending Keith here, but to say that Daniel's hit was clean and then on the same hand slamming Keith is just super homerism. I don't think there will be any suspensions here, Daniel made it to the bench on his own power, looked fairly alert and answered questions from the trainers. I think they kept him out of the rest of the game for his own protection seeing as it got out of control after that. Keith might get a warning and a fine, but he's not getting a suspension since he's a) The Blackhawks #1 D-man b) Not a repeat offender c) Did not get called for a 5 minute major and d) The Blackhawks are in a race for home ice in the playoffs. All these factors will mitigate any suspension that might be coming Keith's way. Either way, maybe it's time to start taking hitting out of the game and going the NFL route where supplemental discipline is harsh. - DariusKnight
While I don't agree with the bolded part, this post is why I will not lump all Canuck fans together..
Two options I would be fine with.
If Keith gets 1-2 games, Sedin should get a fine.
If Keith gets 3-4 games, Sedin should get 1-2 games.
Keith's play was straight up dirty.. Sedin's hit was exactly what the league is trying to get rid of. A shoulder coming up high to make contact with a players head.
Both were intentional in my opinion and both deserve some sort of discipline. |

If your team wasn't full of Big mouths that don't stand up for them selfs maybe that hit doesn't happen. Maybe if Burrows or Lapierre drop the gloves early that hit doesn't happen. That whole game you could feel the tension building. Let the tough guys throw down , clear the air and move forward. This tough guy attitude that the nucks show is pathetic cause no one follows through. just a bunch of (frank)en Mouth Cases and nothing enrages people more than a mouth case that doesn't back up his words. - Dojodan

No, I just watch the games objectively plus I follow the trends and decisions made by the NHL and actually read the decisions and how they came to them. I have also played the game at a fairly high level (Junior A until my knee got tore up so bad I couldn't play anymore). I also don't form my opinions based on what television and radio personalities say. If Daniel gets a penalty (which he should have, based on the new headshot rule) the elbow never happens. Keith will at most, get a warning, a fine and MAYBE, a one game suspension. He is not a repeat offender, he plays on a team that is in a huge fight for home ice in the first round and is their number one defenceman and the refs thought it only deserved a 2 minute minor for elbowing. You can debate that call all you like, but Shanahan will take all those points in consideration when the tape is shown to him. |

What year and team did you play for? I played 6 games 5 years ago for the Eagles but mostly played Junior B for the Ice Hawks. |

Ah. This is amusing. I never thought Vancouver fans would be whining about something... Oh wait.
Simple fact is, Chicago is super sensitive to head shots since all their top guys have has concussions over the past few years. (Hey Mitchell, how did Toews feel after you smoked him in the head?). They are now going to overreact everytime someone cheapshots them and they should, just not by hitting them back in the head.
I say run the goalie if they cheapshot you, best way to get back at them.
Keith = 3 games
Sedin = 1 or at the very least a fine. |
