I'm not at all surprised how little Hawks fans comprehend the rules. When the rules are rewritten and contact to the head becomes illegal...then maybe they have something to complain about. It was the same when Marchand submarined Salo. The Bruins fans thought every legal hip check Ballard ever done in his career was "the same". |

REALISTICALLY, what is that minimum and maximum suspension that you think Keith deserves? |

Agreed. Expect the b!tch-o-meter to be raised by several decibels. - AlexF
Not from this Hawks fan..Keith deserves whatever he gets...regardless of what happened prior in the game that elbow was disgusting. |

I dont have all the info. How hurt is Danny? Was there a threat that was overheard?
I thought up to 5 games before but Shanny switched to a in person hearing which Keith has now waived. He's getting min 6 now I assume. Obviously new information has been released. Probably one or both of the questions above. If there was a threat...he's done for the season.
I suspect the Sedin hit will be mentioned but no dicipline.
What if the suspension was really big the Hawks lose enough games to put them in the 1st round with the Canucks. What a story that would be...

That would be an epic, hate filled battle. Make for good tv, but bad for my mental health. |

Only problem with this is Keith has been pretty unimpressive all year...I don't think him being out of the lineup will hurt us all that much. |

Wait until he is out of the line-up. That might highlight what he does or doesn't bring to this team. |

Get a grip dshiddy! Forgive me for hoping for Sedin's well being...
"Regardless of the length of Keith's suspension, it won't be enough to satisfy Canucks fans ESPECIALLY if Sedin's injury turns out to be serious.
Personally, I don't think any suspension should be handed out until the extent of Sedin's injuries have been determined and disclosed with the help of a third party or NHL representitive.
Here's hoping Sedin is alright."
^^^ "Trolling," riiiight! ^^^ - As_I_See_It
The NHL doesn't and never will hand out suspensions based on that. If that were the case and Keith had of hit Dale Weise... well then of course the Canucks would say Weise is out for 4 months etc...
I believe Keith will get rest of the season + 1 playoff game. Would love to see Shanahan give him 4 playoff games, but I just don't see him taking that stand yet. The time will come where a play like this is auto 20 game suspension, but I don't think that time is here yet. |

A shoulder hit to the head, while illegal as I have pointed out (should have been a penalty), is not the same as an elbow to the head. I shouldn't have to explain why. - nucks_94
Sure ... it's sort of like the difference between stabbing somebody and shooting somebody.

That would be awesome Keith and Daniel should square of at center ice next game! - wolverine19
...and it should have happened that way in the first period of that game. Nothing will change on head shots until you aren't allowed to cheap shot and hide behind the guys who fight. That goes for Sedin, Keith and everyone else. I want the Hawks to beat the Canucks, but I want to beat them straight up.
Sedin--1 game (applied during injury but forfeit salary); Keith--5 games. And the officiating crew should get docked or sit out a playoff round for blowing both calls and causing further incidents that could have caused other injuries (but not going to happen). |

One rule Hawks fans understand very well: a higher score than the other team when the game is over equals a win. |

You understand that they would have to change the rules before suspending Sedin for his type of hit? They have made those adjustments in the amature level of hockey but not in the NHL yet. They wont give him a game because the head wasnt the principle target. Sometimes they do set examples on borderline hits but hey have had far better choices than that hit which none of us even realized was a tad high before TSN slowed it down to analyze. Head contact like that is in every game almost. If anything...it's a penalty for being late.
Kerry Fraser was just the kind of ref that would alter game results to set examples. He's the last person I'd listen too... he's thrown playoff series with hypocritical calls. He has always seen the game different than the rest of the NHL officials. He loves the attention on controversial calls.
