Bob Probert didn't play in the 70's? He did it a few times, this one is from 86.

Hawk fans also forget to mention Eager scratching Bieksa face all up with his long "girl" fingernails while Burrows was pulling hair. Well, they don't forget, they chose to ignore it to further their agenda.
Man people who think JJ's a homer has never met the likes of you. How's that 5-0 score coming along?
If you, the blogger hasn't seen the initial play to see that the brunt of the Sedin hit was to the head first, well, its your credibility not mine.
So really the Keith hit was inexcusable, but if you want repeat offenders who don't get the message to get more severely punished, you can't have it both ways. Two games is fair.
And I don't think there's any self-respecting player out there who doesn't believe in street justice from time to time.
And yeah, you'll never find hair pullers, groin-kneers criers, or sisters on the Hawks. Just guys that bring it.
So what you're really saying is that Steckel targeted Crosby? I've learned to read between the lines when you sneaky penguin bastages post. - WayneZ
I'm just a firm believer that Headshots should be out of the game all together. Should Steckel have been pentalized for the hit on crosby, probably. Was he targeting Crosby, i don't think so. Head shots should be like high sticking calls. Whether you mean to or not, it's still a penalty.

The 70's was outlaw hockey. Guys had crazy hair and no helmets and hair pulling was the norm.
The "Burrows is a hair puller" fall back position is only mentioned by half-wits who need to link their self-esteem to the percieved higher moral standards of their favourite hockey team - K-Bomb

Elbows, headshots, trolling, reffing, suspensions, diving, rioting, biting, hair pulling, turtleing aside, I hope Daniel is OK and not on the IR to start the playoffs .
“He’s obviously going in there to try and hurt a guy, injure him.
“I understand it’s playoff [style] hockey and everybody wants to get their hits in—you’re hitting hard to leave an impression—but to me that hit is a blatant hit to the head on a guy who doesn’t have the puck yet.”
Oh wait sorry my mistake, that was Duncan Keith after Torres hit Seabrook last year.

Okay, gents, the thread has been mostly cleaned up and lots of bans handed out. Please refrain from name calling, posting pictures of scantly clad women for no reason or otherwise insutling the blogger. Trolling and posting smack talk just to inflame a pissing match can also get you banned. Play nice, kids.

While Daniel did hit Keith earlier in the game, that was a hockey hit. Keith had the puck and Sedin finished his check. While there was some minor contact with Keith's head (Shoulder to head), the chest was the principal point of contact. This was a text book hockey check. This check was how you are taught to do it as a kid and is how you finish a check. Sedin did not leave his feet. Sedin did not target the head. Sedin led with his shoulder and did not raise his elbow. You take that hit out of the game and you will be taking hitting out of the game (which might be for the best, given no one knows how to hit or get hit anymore). There was nothing wrong with the hit and Keith needs to be in anger management if he can't take that hit without losing his cool.
Sedin, while he didn't leave his feet, clearly lunges upward in a deliberate attempt to hit Keith high. The initial point of contact was not the head, but the principle (main) point of contact most definitely was. When you come in at head level (Keith didn't lower his head into Sedin's shoulder) it's hard to argue that he didn't "target" the head. Not a good hockey play. Not a textbook hit. Not just finishing a check.
Now, that said Keith's response was BS too. If I'm Shanny I give Keith 2-3 and a big (really big) fine, and I give sedin either 1 game or a modest fine.

I guess we'll see by the end of the day who is going to get a hearing or not.
