I sent a tweet to Sam couple of games ago and he sent me a direct message telling me if he didn't keep on asking the Bryz "me" questions, he would not be doing his job.

just my opinion, but i don't think holtby panicked on the poke check. you have a split second to make the decision to stay or go, and he went, but for some odd reason he stayed on his feet while poking rather than diving and taking some ice away in the process if he missed. i've never seen a goalie do something quite like that. had he gone to the ice he might have tripped up giroux and gotten the puck at the same time. holtby's always done well in his call ups, but with the caps needing every point, i was surprised he got the start over neuvirth.
anyway...a workmanlike yet unspectacular win - one with posts and missed open nets at both ends. i think lava has them playing more defensive-minded and not as aggressive. had bryz and the d game been locked in like this earlier in the year they might be the ones finding themselves in first place. now that the defensive side is tight, the offense has gone south. hopefully they can get on the same page.
another game with a mere one pp opportunity - coming in the 3rd period no less. and speaking of officiating, the interference call on giroux was one of the worst the entire season. just pathetic, made by the ref at the other end of the ice who called what he thought he saw rather than what actually happened, which was giroux literally standing still and having a cap bump him and fall down while chasing the puck carrier. - hammarby31
wish jakey could have finished on one of those open nets. |

sounds like a good start to a typical panotch leaning question - OrangeBlack27
He needs to lay off the sauce during games. It's causing him to nod off more than any hockey game ever would. |

He sucks at his job. It's like the trashman that leaves your can in the middle of the street to get run over by the 85 year old neighbor lady...sure the trash got picked up, but it's half-assed. |

Think Forsberg could be named Sweden's GM for Sochi, Bill?
If the Rangers beat the Sabres in regulation and the Capitals beat the Jets in any way shape or form, the Flyers clinch a playoff spot tonight. - Jsaquella

What record is Giroux looking to break that Recchi holds as a Flyer. I was watching the game from a fuzzy feed and I guess Recchi holds this record with 91 points. Is it most points as a Flyer in a season? I have to be wrong on that, Lindros alone had a career high of 115 points as a Flyer. |

I'd be fine if the Flyers win in, rather than get in because the Rangers won. |

Giroux is the first Flyer to pass 85 points since Recchi got 91 in 1999-2000. Not sure what record there is, because no way is Giroux catching Recchi's record for scoring in a season, which is 123 points. |

Well if the Flyers lose out and miss the playoffs you'll be dead from the head trauma anyway. Just don't jump from below the 3rd floor, you don't want to be unsuccessful, that would be painful. |

No, no, that must be it. It's just something I caught out of the corner of my eye while I was trying to watch the game on a fussy feed and watching something else between whistles. |

If he only improves from here he will one season.
Not that Giroux will win it anyway but is he back into Hart Trophy talks? He's now one point above Stamkos in the points race and he isn't catching Malkin. |

Ugh. Flyers really need to get thier offense going again... I hope this isnt another case of Lavi throwing the switch for the playoffs... (insert avatar here) We have way too many players struggling right now... Briere, Simmonds, Schenn, Couturier... And even Read, Jagr, Talbot, and Voracek while playing good are not finishing consistantly...
Its only going to get tougher from here on out, so they really need to find something that works other then the G-line...
Since there is little chance to move up or down, I would try and see how a Speed line would work...
Read-Briere-Wellwood... That line could fly, and Read and Wellwood are sound defensively that they wont be a liability either.
And I guess that would mean you would also have a line of Simmonds-Schenn-Voracek... Which is a bigger hard hitting line... |

Is their scoring drought related to the amount of powerplays there getting? They should have been on the powerplay a little more than they were yesterday...saw a lot of clutching and grabbing from washington... |

I think it's on the players, not Lava, that they're not finding the net. It's his job to put them in a position to succeed, sure, and I think he's done that. The execution, however, is on them. It's that time of year, teams set to compete are tightening up their defensive play. There's still a handful of games to get that creativity and finish going. |

I do think there is need for a change up. You have 3 cold players in Schenn, Simmonds and Briere on one line. It isn't working. I'd be for changing it up completely.

I would change the Power Play for starters. I understand the numbers say we're 7th in the NHL, bluh bluh bluh but this is all based on the entire season up to this point. There are a lot of players slumping on this team and are barely involved on the PP. If we can't get Briere going now and if he's a non factor in the playoffs, I don't think anyone should be surprised. You want a balanced Power Play but we have time to find balance. I think it's time to push the players who need to be pushed. |

IMO the reason they arent getting the PP's anymore is because their offensive game hasnt been doing the right things that teams would have to take penalities... One of the reasons why I think you should get a spped line and a size line together... The speed line will draw hooking penalities from speeding pass defenseman on the transition game. As long as they keep moving and dont get into hitting game... The strengh line, would create retalitory penalities for though checks and grabbing penalities for moving the puck on the forecheck.

I agree, Simmonds needs to come off that top unit. Replace him with Vorecek down low and put Kubina on the top PP point.

Honestly, I wouldn't mind seeing the flyers loose a few and drop down to the 6th spot and get the panthers first round. Id much rather watch the devils /rangers or the devils/pens play and meet the winner in the 2nd round. |

don't get why voracek is playing the right point. at all. i'd like to see kubina and his big shot from there. the pp is terribly stale. |
