Huh?
I'm saying someone should be reviewing all the calls made and fire the guys who keep making the wrong ones on a consistant basis. This has nothing to do with in-game calls. - canadianpenfan
Well, actually, it does. You are saying someone should be reviewing in-game calls for subsequent discipline. I am merely pointing out that someone with a different angle and access to slow motion has a completely different view of the game than an official on the ice during play. He sees it once, from the angle he has, and has to choose which action on the ice to be watching at any time.

Would you agree some officials are better than others or do you feel they're all the same and some just see different things on the ice? There was a game not too long ago reffed by Auger and someone else. The reason I only remember Auger is because he called about 12 penalties while the 2nd official called 0. Now you tell me, is it because Auger sees the ice differently or by coincidence did all these infractions just happen in front of him?

Sure, some are better than others, and all should be reviewed by the NHL. But the open list of "bad calls" is an openly bad idea.
So anyway...both Keith Jones and Al Morganti said that the NHL should institute the shootout in the playoffs.

Could you imagine? What a dumb idea.

ridiculous idea. from a tv standpoint, I would think that with NBC now showing all games (on various channels), you figure out a way to get the longer OT games switched over to an afffiliate if the concern is that the games are preventing other shows from begin on. In any event, having tv concerns dictate the game of hockey, while understandable from a business perspective, makes me sick. (frank) the glowing puck.

When there's a HR hitting contest to decide the MLB playoff games instead of extra innings. When basketball goes to a free throw shooting contest after one OT. When football has a PP&K contest after an OT (why don't more games go to OT in football, I wonder).
But if they did this in hockey, I think that might be the last nail in the coffin for me.

Their reasoning was that since the shootout is so important in the regular season and decides so much, it is stupid that it is not in the playoffs. He stated that when they are at a bar and all the games are on, when one goes to a shootout all the attention goes to that game and people cheer and get interested. Rhea The Idiot chimed in that it would be good for the casual fan blah blah blah.
They decided it should be one full overtime then the shootout.
