Well deserved, and I really don't like how Keith handled the whole situation.

How should the fans know what an illegal hit is if the officiating doesn't?

I'd say it was fair, Danny probably deserved a game or a fine himself but he's injured anyways. The one time he actually finishes a check this happens.

Keith deserves ten, and Sedin deserves nothing for the hit on Keith? Please.

Here's another way of looking at it. How much did you think Kronwall deserved for the hit on Kesler 12/21? Honestly. Don't lie for the sake of argument. Tell the truth.

And how much did he get?

I know they're somewhat different kinds of plays. But was there intent to injure in both cases? Yes. Any idiot knows it.

Does Kronwall have a track record of trying to take guys heads off (even though some of his hits are clean)? Yes.

I have no issue with suspending Keith. But it's time Shanahan stopped soft-pedaling certain guys. It's become laughable. And yes, anyone asking, I do think Kronwall is guilty of dirty hits almost as often as not.

Some are clean. Some are not.

Interesting blog. I particularly like your thinking that this was too much of a suspension. Then there is Shanahan: We've also taken into consideration Keith's supplemental discipline record which includes no suspensions and one fine over nearly seven NHL seasons.

So basically, if it was anyone with any history of anything with the league, it would be have been closer to 10.

Vancouver fans are just incredible thinking that Keith deserves 9+ games and that Sedin was a clean hit. Keith received a suspension and I think he deserved it. It was on the high end, but you cannot mess with head injuries. It was a deliberate hit to the head, and with the way Toews is feeling, we cannot continue to see this around the league. That being said, not too much will change in the playoff hunt. I'm glad because chances are Hawks will keep the 6th seed and play the Kings.

If Shannahan had any kind of brians, he would have mentioned that Danial spends so much time diving, that he cannot justify giving another player a suspention when they actually hit him. He should have said it's about time he hit the ice due to contact.

You guys come onto a Chicago blog and create drama. You know if I went on the Vancouver blog and wrote that Sedin deserves a suspension, all of you would be up in arms. Same thing, you are creating the drama.

It's probably 1 or 2 games too much but ironically it could actually work in the Hawks favour. If they play .500 hockey the rest of the way they will likely finish in 6th and get the best 1st round matchup they can hope for. Plus Keith could use the rest - he will be fresh for the playoffs. What I wonder is why the NHL has made no statement regarding Sedin's initial head shot that led to the retaliation. Even if they determined he would not be suspended given that he was injured and will miss time as a result of the Keith elbow, they should still acknowledge that it was an otherwise suspendable hit...

In any case, the real issue for us Hawks fans is the wild card on when, or if, JT will return. If he's done for the season it's hard to imagine the Hawks making a deep run despite their recent quality of play.

Please don't respond to this guy this way. It mitigates what he's done. This has nothing to do with school systems. The mods will deal with him.

You are not a hockey fan if you don't think D. and H. Sedin are divers! They are poor examples of players in that reguard.

Every player has been guilty of a dive at least once or twice.. If you're not cheating, you're not trying..

Some just do it more than others.

This is what bothers me the most. If this had been kronwall hitting Sedin do we still see the same suspension given out? What if its not a star player like Sedin? I think its bs that a guy like Kronwall can get away with all those hits without even a fine or review from the league! NHL discipline is so A$$ backwards its not even funny.

The only reason Keith got as many games as he did is because he hit a girl.

I agree He should have got one or two games also . I think now that he is missing time because of injury it is moot and I don't think any further action will follow .Maybe a fine.

I know we have been spoiled by watching Hossa play. He never dives, even though he could.
