Just watch the video. Shanahan explains it all.

Doan: Prior disipline, no intent, no injury
Keith: No prior record, intent, injury
There is the difference. - micah555
I get what he is saying but if Keith's elbow just grazed Sedin and he was not injured Keith's suspension should not be any less then it would be if it as in this case it connected and resulted in the injury. It's still a dangerous play regardless and if the NHL is serious about this as they should be the penalties for a head shot that doesn't result in an injury should be as severe. That's the only way this stops. |

I watch the Canucks game after game and year after year. They are no dirtier than any other team. Most of that is media fabricated by CBC and other Eastern Media. They do have players that people love to hate. We get that.
A problem with the league is that if they do see crap going on that is missed by the games refs then they should follow up with suspensions or fines . Burrows Lapierre Kesler Luongo and the Sedins have faces you love to punch . Are their faces any worse than Marchands Chara Lucic Joe Thortons Doughty Bollands Keiths ? - VANTEL
VANTEL, I know Bolland gets plenty of hate from Canucks & fans, but I'll give him props for his response to the unpenalized high hit from Hamhuis last year--he subsequently lost his mind at the bench for the only penalty. He picked his spot later & smoked Hamhuis with a hard, clean check behind the net. Probably had an opportunity to go dirty, but didn't. Too bad Keith didn't respond much the same way. |

Clearly the extent of Sedin's injury really didn't receive alot of consideration when Shamahan made his ruling on Keith.
Nobody knows how long he will be out, whether it is really severe or whether it isn't very serious and the Canucks were using it as a ploy to get a stiffer sentence. And who knows if the PA stepped in and started pushing back in defence of Keith.
What was the hurry to get Keith's hearing done, the Hawks don't play until tomorrow. Keith could have been given an indefinite suspension subject to more gathering of facts. - RickJ
...and said gathering of 'facts' could take months.... Sounds good. |

We know it happens all the time . You see it game to game where a player is diving and faking injury . - VANTEL
Please name a player who has faked an injury. Or have I misunderstood you and you simply mean as part of the game/dive/lookaround to the ref/...? If not, you sound like the Bruins fans and Recchi who stated that Salo was faking his concussion. And that's not a great way to come across. |

Vancouver /Chicago both have a real hate on for each other. I can see why each fan base thinks each other is dirty or crosses the line.It is a great rivalry. Why some fan in New York Toronto or Carolina thinking that Vancouver is a dirty team is crazy. That is the media hate of Toronto that spews out that crap.Toronto hate Vancouver and have no reason other than we kick their ass for 7 years standing. Those games are not cheap violent or anything at all other than an ass kicking. Van/Chi the hate is real and that is fine. The fact is it is two great teams battling. |

Yes part of the game
A player faking an injury?
How about the game when Burrows looked like he was shot ,Lu skated over to him to see if he was ok .Burrows looks up sees Auger called a five minute penalty and Burrows limped of and came back one shift later.

I hear you on the list of players who are unlikeable, and I don't see through rose-colored glasses regarding the 'Hawks in general or Bolland (or Eager or Burish when they were here, or Kane, etc.) in particular.
You might have put your finger on the real question--is this hate for the Canucks primarily media-generated and essentially disconnected from reality, such that a sort of groupthink has emerged? That's the issue I think.
Maybe the truth is somewhere in between, but the Canucks have not helped themselves. Bieksa and Burrows' antics (on the ice) have generated much of this. And A.V.'s demeanor (yes, that matters in terms of perception) and comments have only exacerbated the perception of the Canucks as whiny, condescending, and entitled.
What are the Canucks to do? Easier said than done, but I think they put their heads down, shut up, work hard, and resist doing those things that further the perception. Or maybe they do nothing differently--it's not like they're obligated to anyone in this regard. I will concede that the hatred for the Sedins is unfair and irrational--I think they are respectable guys who generally do work hard and play the game clean (despite the hit on Keith--which given the rules of today was suspendable, even if in times past not a big deal).
Bottom line, however, I don't think the hatred for the Canucks is completely media-driven and generated. People really don't like the team because of the way they conduct themselves on and off the ice.
In the larger scheme of things called life for most of us, not a big deal. It's just a game (albeit with lots and lots of money on the line for some folks). |

I understand the hatred of Burrows and Kesler .Last years playoffs of "turn the other cheek" from AV was stupid, and an image embarrasment to the nth degree.Bieksa I am not sure the hatred for him.He has never bitten fingers , pulled hair or dove . To me he is the same type as Burrish .
When Kesler played for Team USA was he one of your favorite players? Most Americans seen he was a team leader and he pissed all of Canada off.He is a player your fans love if he is wearing your sweater. He can very much be an embarrassment. Burrows has tried to clean his act up but he too has relapses but I would never want to lose him as a Canuck fan.
I think a lot of it is bandwagon hatred, and some very real hatred.Canucks do have a cast of characters. If we were just an average team people would not hate us. To be truthful earlier this year, this rivalry was very vanilla because Chicago was losing and the excitment was waning.I fully understand the hatred between these tow teams and Boston maybe even SJ ,but after that it becomes a bit boring and media generated. |

Don't understand the hatred for Bieksa ? He's a coward. Can't take a clean hit from Stalberg and jumps him. Then he punches Keith in the face with a glove twice in the game the other night and gets away with it.

What have you heard (or what do you know) about Canucks players "off the ice". I have never heard of any negative off ice incident involving players from this team.
I could refer you to the Hawks for negative off-ice incidents and the Roxy. |

I counted three hits by Stalberg in that 60 second clip. Bieksa didn't like it.
These two teams have a hatred and BOTH have doen some pretty shady things . Can we drop this.
In two years from now ,hopefully, we will not be coming here and talking about the ,Torres hit ,the Keith elbow, the Burrows hair pull, or the Kane taxi incident. Enjoy the games .When was the last time two fan bases were still poking each other for a game 3 days later. |

I've always liked the way Bieska played. It seems to me that he gets kind of "barrett jackman" against the hawks-face washes the smaller guys, the Stalberg stuff, lots of yappin, etc. I never really saw that stuff from him against any other team and not even the hawks til recently. I understand some hawks fans dislike for the guy. However, I do feel some of it is misguided. He's seems to have always been a stand up team guy, solid defensively, some offense..He'll fight anyone-destroying the smaller guys and holding his own against bigger guys. I'd take him as 2nd pairing guy any day. |
