Don't understand the hatred for Bieksa ? He's a coward. Can't take a clean hit from Stalberg and jumps him. Then he punches Keith in the face with a glove twice in the game the other night and gets away with it.

Bieksa and Burrows are snakes. All teams have one or two. But the difference between Bieksa and Burrows is they pick there spots, usually either punching people in the back of the head in scrums or going after lesser fighters. I know Burrows and Bieksa have both taken on heavy fights, but i've just seen them gave after smaller players many times too. Kesler is different in that I've never really seen him go after a smaller player in a scrum or fight. Sure he slashes Kane and gives him a shot here or there, but that's more of trying to get under his skin rather than taking shots at him. I respect Kesler for taking on Ladd.
Trying to be unbiased, Bolland is a blend between Kesler and Burrows. I don't think he takes cheapshots at players as much as just trying to get under their skin, but he doesn't answer the bell himself so I get why Bolland is hated.

Do you think the league is stupid? That they wouldn't do their due dilligence in determining the extent of Sedins injury?
And this is the NHL. Say what you want about their disciplinary strategy, but to imply that the Canucks or any organization would stray down unethical lane and lie about an injury to garner extra support in a suspension hearing is pretty ridiculous. - Mattjd123
The league doesn't really get involved in that as much you would think....That's why a player who is suspended like Carcillo, and injured as well, begins his sentence immediately not when he is healthy enough to play.
The announcement Sedin was going to be out at least two weeks when nobody really knows an accurate timetable on concussions was to put more pressure on Shanny and it worked imo...

I understand the hatred of Burrows and Kesler .Last years playoffs of "turn the other cheek" from AV was stupid, and an image embarrasment to the nth degree.Bieksa I am not sure the hatred for him.He has never bitten fingers , pulled hair or dove . To me he is the same type as Burrish .
When Kesler played for Team USA was he one of your favorite players? Most Americans seen he was a team leader and he pissed all of Canada off.He is a player your fans love if he is wearing your sweater. He can very much be an embarrassment. Burrows has tried to clean his act up but he too has relapses but I would never want to lose him as a Canuck fan.
I think a lot of it is bandwagon hatred, and some very real hatred.Canucks do have a cast of characters. If we were just an average team people would not hate us. To be truthful earlier this year, this rivalry was very vanilla because Chicago was losing and the excitment was waning.I fully understand the hatred between these tow teams and Boston maybe even SJ ,but after that it becomes a bit boring and media generated. - VANTEL
Bieksa is quite the character. I personally like him simply for his quotability. Wasn't he the one last spring who, when told the Hawks were going to put John Scott on the PP, responded, "If they want to play a man down, that's fine with us." |

3 hits...ALL CLEAN...peace ! - philco28
Never said they were not clean .How many times have you seen a player on another team lay a clean hit then get jumped by another player? Are they cowards also? I do remember once Willie Mitchell laid out Toews with a clean hit and then he was jumped.Bieksa got tired of Stalberg hitting other players . Does not make him diry or a coward. |

I've always liked the way Bieska played. It seems to me that he gets kind of "barrett jackman" against the hawks-face washes the smaller guys, the Stalberg stuff, lots of yappin, etc. I never really saw that stuff from him against any other team and not even the hawks til recently. I understand some hawks fans dislike for the guy. However, I do feel some of it is misguided. He's seems to have always been a stand up team guy, solid defensively, some offense..He'll fight anyone-destroying the smaller guys and holding his own against bigger guys. I'd take him as 2nd pairing guy any day. - miked23
I have seen Bolland slew foot Sedin ,face wash him and give a few pokes to a players head also.I am told he is not a dirty player and I believe it. These two teams hate each other and do things to each other that they would not do against Colorado or Columbus. I had no problem with the scrums the fights the chirping or anything the other night .Only the two hits tainted the game. |

Damn that clean hit by Stalberg on Bieksa looked a lot like the clean Sedin hit on Keith. And Stalberg is bigger than Bieksa and had that coming to him on that play. |

Bieksa's a notorious coward. It's common knowledge league wide that he won't fight anyone of merit. It was great to see Tom Kostopolous drop him like a bad habit.

How could he ? Alexandria was pulling Keith's hair, while Coward Bieksa punched him in the face twice, then Alexandria kneed Duncs in the groin, while he was down. Does Alexandria sit when he pees ?

Sedin hit Keith late and to the head. Not the same at all. You need new specs doc.

What have you heard (or what do you know) about Canucks players "off the ice". I have never heard of any negative off ice incident involving players from this team.
I could refer you to the Hawks for negative off-ice incidents and the Roxy. - Vagabond
I was being unclear--"on and off the ice" was merely a reference to my own comments in a sort of summary form, referring back to Burrows and then A.V.
You're right to call me on that--didn't mean anything by it.
As for the Blackhawks, namely Kane, take your shots. While he is extremely talented, I am not a huge supporter of his. He has grown up some (thankfully), but the cab incident is indefensible. And the Limo pictures and other rumors, well, they're all out there and most are likely true.
I love the Blackhawks (have since about 1970), but hockey is hockey--there's give and take, there's dirty play that goes both ways, always has. I try not to simply see things through a Blackhawks set of lenses. I loved Al Secord, but he was no angel--he gave as good as he got, and not always within the rules.
I "hate" Burrows and others like I hated Dino Ciccarelli, but I have no illusions about many of my favorite team's players and am sometimes embarrassed by their actions. |

Those are really stupid comments, aren't they. Rise above them, it only belittles yourself. I could counter with things like, "how could anyone knee Keith in the balls when he has none?" It even feels stupid as i write it. Rise above it. |

Well, I have actually come to respect Kesler. And funny, I do kind of hate Bieksa when the games are going on and he's doing what he does, if he was a little bit better player, I wouldn't mind him on my team. His personality is effectively abrasive.
Yes, some of the hatred is because the Canucks are a good and not-so-bland (as you say) team.
And you're right on about the rivalry--any rivalry needs two good teams. Blackhawks-Blues is a case in point. Not sure who the Canucks other rivals would be--regionally, Flames? Oilers? But I realize "Western Canada" includes some provinces very different from one another (i.e., B.C. does not equal Alberta).
Truth be known, I don't get patriotic about hockey. I barely root for the U.S. over Canada--b/c most of my favorite players are Canadian. I just love hockey, and I almost secretly root for Canada. I get the central place that hockey plays in Canadian culture--I am jealous, and when I visit friends in Ottawa, Montreal, and Toronto, I love it. On the U. S. side, I liked Roenick, thought Chelios was an absolute jerk (although I loved him on the 'Hawks, I thought some of the crap he pullled was ridiculous--now that was a dirty player), I liked Amonte, don't care too much for Kane (although he is a valuable Blackhawk), etc. My favorite players have always been Canadian--Secord, Larmer, Savard, Belfour, Bossy, and others. |

Well after a couple of the days in the poster sin bin cuz of a post over at the Nuck blog...I am "free" once again.
So the Hawks have a game tomorrow and 4 more with out Keith. No Montador or Lepisto. To say the Hawks are thin at D is the obvious.
How do they overcome this? How do they soak up Keiths 25+TOI every game?
My guess it breaks down like this: Seabs/Hjram @ 25 TOI, Oduya @ 25 TOI, Leddy hopefully less with OD and Olsen @ 12-15 TOI!
With Keith out...they didn't fare to well earlier in the year.
I suspect the forwards will have to be 100% focused on defense and clearing the zone. |

No one . Hawks Bruins Wings SJ then maybe Flames .Flames have to be more competitive to be a good rival.
Chicago have a strong hockey history . They had a period where they almost dropped of the face of the earth but they are back now. |
