Vancouver /Chicago both have a real hate on for each other. I can see why each fan base thinks each other is dirty or crosses the line.It is a great rivalry. Why some fan in New York Toronto or Carolina thinking that Vancouver is a dirty team is crazy. That is the media hate of Toronto that spews out that crap.Toronto hate Vancouver and have no reason other than we kick their ass for 7 years standing. Those games are not cheap violent or anything at all other than an ass kicking. Van/Chi the hate is real and that is fine. The fact is it is two great teams battling. - VANTEL
your team is dirty and it starts with their coach who obviously encourages this style of play. it could end tomorrow if the coach wanted it too
until you guys get another coach you wont win the cup! |

Damn that clean hit by Stalberg on Bieksa looked a lot like the clean Sedin hit on Keith. And Stalberg is bigger than Bieksa and had that coming to him on that play. - docmorgan
what a homer you are
bieksa was hit by stalberg in the chest and he saw him coming
stalberg did not target his head
there is no comparison in hits. sedin hit keith from the side and behind and well after the play had progressed
clean up your teams act by getting rid of your coach |

I think you are looking at the wrong hit - the Bieksa hit was the second one in that series. Both good hockey hits by Stalberg. The hit to Bieksa targeted the head just as much as the hit to Keith by Sedin. |

i just watched the vidio twice and stalberg hit him shoulder to shoulder and made no contact to his head
sedin targeted keiths head and personnally i watch hockey for the skill and dont want to see all the good players sitting due to head injuries.this targeting of the head with any part of the body must stop. the modern shoulder pads are like armor and can do real damage if a hit lands onthe head with the shoulder |

Bieksa's a notorious coward. It's common knowledge league wide that he won't fight anyone of merit. It was great to see Tom Kostopolous drop him like a bad habit.

Would you consider Chicago tough guy Mayers to be of any merit? Mayers is 6'1 and 222lbs. Bieksa is 6'1 and 198lbs. Mayers is bigger right? Fighter right? Go to you tube and search their fight. |

Then watch it 3 times. Bieksa wasn't even looking and Stalberg hits his head and shoulder. Just blows me away that some of you Hawks fans are just plain blind. |

HNIC guys really going after Keith after the 2nd period, going back to his retaliatory hit on Cooke to show that he is a repeat offender, and how behind closed doors, the Canucks are pissed at how little he got. |

Keith was fined once before but never suspended before.....I guess that counts as not being a repeat offender, only getting fined??
The probelm is with the system or lack there of....
Bourque was a repeat offender and got 5 games for a cheap head shot on Backstrom who has now missed almost 40 games.
Everything that Shanahan has done in the past indicated Keith would get not more than 3 games and he got 5....
It's all bad and Toews was deliberately hit in the head and no one got a suspension.
In case anyone hasn't noticed luck is a bigger factor these days than ever before...

One of the HNIC guys - not Millbury - pointed to the Cooke hit - was that the one Keith was fined for? - and said Keith was a repeat offender - all 3 thought he should have gotten more games, especially since Sedin was injured and could miss significant time and could cost the Canucks a deep run.
Passing reference to Sedin's earlier hit on Keith, no one said he should have been punished, too.
Much made of how Canucks are really pissed about it.

He's not trolling, he's talking hockey and disagreeing with you. Everyone is welcome in any thread as long as they remain respectful and follow the CoC. That includes your own team's threads.
This post seems inflammatory. I'll remind you (and everyone else) to stay polite. |

"But he hit me first."
The hit WAS reckless and dangerous...I believe our mothers always said "2 wrongs don't make a right."
Suck it up, he shoulda got more. I usually don't mind ur blogs, but ur tryna paint Keith in a brighter light here. It was a dirty play that has NO place in hockey |

I believe that must be the fine for Keith.
Sedin could be back next week or next October....Unfortunate but there is no way to measure one versus the other.
What if Bollig ran Sedin and the punishment for Bollig was based on the amount of time Sedin was off....game for game???
Obviously not fair either...
Like I wrote today if the Canadian media wasn't involved the outrage would be toned down....Doesn't make what Keith did right in anyway.
Anyone who believes the outrage if Keith elbowed Martin Erat for example would be the same....Well it wouldn't be close.
I'm sure the HNIC boys would be a lot less concerned but the Canucks are the only Canadian team with an opportunity to win the Cup...
If there would have been any precedent I would be fine with Keith getting 10 games +...As it was a reasonable mind should realize 5 games at this time of the year was about the most he could get.
Lost in this is the absence of Keith could cost the Hawks 4th place....Which could mean extra home games and millions to the franchise.
Once again the tradeoff for a serious concussion and a long absence for Sedin might not be enough. |

AL, how come you guys in the media that have shanahans ear, put him on the spot, either by a column in the papers or on a radio or tv show, and ask him why nothing was done to joe thornton on the toews hit?

I have about as good a chance of hiiting the power ball next week as I do of getting a one on one with Shanahan.
HNIC wanted him on the show tonight and he declined.
The problem is with the way the system and rule book is enforced today Shanahan has been put in a position whereby he will be inconsistent far too often. |

You must if you blame the city of Toronto for all your problems. - philco28
From which part of your anatomy did you pull that one? Please explain the blame I place, where I blame it, and for what. I've been to every city in Canada and Toronto is one of the ones to not revisit for me. So what? You're too serious about this, I wasn't. But I could go that way if you want. Everybody in Canada hates Toronto and deservedly so -- there is that serious enough for you. Rise above it...you're sinking quickly. Otherwise, get a good night's sleep. |

Have to admit, B!tcheska did good there. In fact, i think Jammer got a shiner out of that one, but he did clock the Nuck good too. Tom Petty said it..."even the losers, get lucky sometimes." |
