He was accepted to this prep school in New York, but couldnt get the scholarship and his parents to make enough to make the tuition, or too little to get financial aid... - RooNosHockey
Biggest problem with hockey.. My sisters boyfriend (and the best player on my team) played Little Flyers and messed with other JR stuff. His family couldnt afford it, and the travel was too intense... He couldnt do it. He likely wouldnt have gone any where based on his size alone (5'9 190) but he is a beast. So sick. |

I dont know what he had done, but I am assuming it had something to do with a disc.. If thats the case he likely will have issues the rest of his career. Very rarely is it a one and done, no problems, type of a thing. - jak521
I think it was disc related, not exactly sure the details. |

right but isn't the Phantoms payroll (the payroll not on contract to the Flyers) the Phantoms call? - nastyflyergirl
Yes, same as the Flyers. Payroll has to be approved by Comcast for the Flyers. |

Now I dont know your cousin or his skill level, but half of my mens league team is comprised of guys who have played Little Flyers, Phantoms, Minutemen, or Hawks.
We have a few who play in college (Neuman, WVU, Widener, West Chester, URI..) and are outstanding players.. it just shows me how crazy good you have to be to get a sniff at the pro level. - jak521
He is usually one of the better players on his teams... The kid has been playing year round since he was 5. Played during the flyers intermission several times...lol.
He is a forward, and is the best scorer on his team, and my aunt and uncle say he is usually top 5 in the league he is in... He is really big for his age... Right now I would guess he is about 5'11 in 8th grade... I'm the shortest man in my family at 6'0". My 2 Uncles are 6'5" and 6'4".... And my 2 other cousins are around 6'3" So he is going to be a big boy.
I think he plans on getting good grades, and he is going to a nice school around here, though it is the rival school I went too... Sallies And he plans to go to either Michigan, Minnesota, or Boston for College and Hockey... So hopefully he will get picked up at some point from College... |

Its not a bad thing to hope and plan for, but those schools are typically the toughest to get into. Your talking not only the best players in the US, but all over the hockey world go to those schools.
It was always my dream to play at Michigan. Still think about how cool that would have been... Best of luck to the kid.. his size will only help. |

I havent seen many games in the last 4-5 years, because he travels so far. Last Christmas he said he went to this tryout thing... Where kids get cut over a 4 day process, and he made it to the final day... Not sure what it was for though... He was bumbed he got cut, but his parents said that was actually really good. I dunno... I really shoudl start going to his games incase he does play NHL, I can get free tickets when he comes to town... |

i find the whole idea that they need to find another russian to try and explain bryz odd. do you ever see articles asking another canadian to try to analyze the emotional state of a canadian goalie? - Don'tForgetTocchet
To understand the average Philly fan, one needs to take a person of average intelligence, give him 24 PBR's and hit him in the head with a brick.
Toss in a staff writer trying to justify her gig at a newspaper that is downsizing and POOF! An article on Bryzgalov. |

Hell yeah. Natty light was like $5 for a case. When you're on a Ramen Noodle budget, you can't afford $8 for a 12 pack of Yuengling when a case of Natty's only $5 |

Molly Eichel, who interviewed the professor to get to the bottom of Bryzgalov's mysterious use of English.
Apparently, Philadelphians are too stupid to realize that Bryzgalov's first language is not English, so at times things will be lost in translation.
Like the "find peace in my soul to play in this city" obviously was meant to be I will find my comfort zone and make the adjustments needed to be successful here. If you need a professor to explain that....well, get yourself that case of PBR and go to town with the brick |

She's not normally a sports columnist. I believe she writes local stories mostly. |
