He is on a milk diet to strengthen his bones (and teeth and hair). |

so let him rest and elevate it and that will be the best way to reduce swelling |

7-1 win and Giroux didn't get a point.
Only 13 min TOI, was he injured? |

No, the game was never in doubt. The Leafs showed about as much emotion and effort as a snail in a puddle |

3 games in 4 days. With the game out of hand quickly, makes sense to rest him. |

A beer league team would have shown more effort. Things are really bad in Toronto. Burke cannot fix the issues there. |

The thing that really brings it home is Burke ignored the key positions.
You need strong centers, and a good mix on defense, plus stability in goal.
When the Flyers "rebuilt" they had young guys that projected as good centers, maybe not franchise guys, but next level down. Then they added Briere to it. On defense they didn't load up on on kind of player, they made sure they had guys who can move the puck, guys who were physical and guys who could skate well.
Finally, in goal, there was never a situation when they had two kids who had no experienced guy to help shoulder the load. Biron, Boucher, Emery, Leighton...
Rolling into this year with Gustavsson and Reimer was a HUGE mistake for Burke. They have nobody who would be a top line center anywhere else in the NHL. The defense has two guys that can move the puck, and one's a rookie. The rest are slower, physical guys that have little offense to offer and are hugely overpriced.
The worst part is, looking at capgeek, they're screwed in the near future, too. |

Next year they have Connelly, MacArthur, Armstrong, Phaneuf, Komisarek and Lombardi under contract. That combined hit? $25mm - Jsaquella

His back. I'd be willing to bet it's precautionary. Nothing to technically play for (seems as though a 1st round matchup is set in stone, barring something ridiculous). Just a few rest days- gotta have him set for the dance. |

Just finished fast forwarding through that smoke show. I know it was the Laffs and a no-name goalie but dam there were some pretty goals scored tonight.
Pretty rare when this team puts up 7 and Giroux and Hartnell don't figure in any of them. Nice to see, but rare nonetheless.
Would have been nice for Couturier to get one. He's only got a couple in his last 30 games or so. Somehow ends up a -1. Poor kid. |

Just watching the replay myself. Schenn just got his 2nd. It's nice to know that other teams have issues clearing the puck from their zone, and fun when it happens against the Flyers.

Definitely Center is an issue on that team. But that team just flat out lacks character. You could see it all over the ice.

That can be a function of losing. A few months ago they were playing solid hockey and had themselves in a playoff spot.
They just couldn't sustain it without strength down the middle and their badly overpriced and slow defense corps leaving the inexperienced goaltending tandem exposed. They way they have dropped would challenge the most capable leadership group and dressing room. |

Imagine if they had not traded for Kessel... Burke vastly overpaid there as well.
Atleast with Seguin and Dougie Hamilton.. the Leafs would have something to start building around. |

He's made a lot of very questionable moves since arriving in Toronto. Tim Connolly 2 years at almost $5mm per. Trading for Phaneuf. It's stunning how many bad contracts he's given out.
I also think he sent a really bad message by NOT making a deadline move. |
