I just don't get some of the fans who have their panties in a bunch.
1. Borderline plays by both teams all game.
2. Clean hit by the pens
3. Correct response by the Flyers
4. Penguins had fighters out, Flyers didnt other than Simmonds who has 7 stitches in his face from the day before.
Should Lavi have complained afterwards, maybe not.
Should Crosby have cried about Schenn, maybe not.
Move on and get ready for 5-8 more games of this and may the better team win which I believe is going to be the Flyers . |

Hell the only problem I had with yesterday's game was all the female doging about it afterward. It was a fun game, lots of action and hatred...it's what a rivalry game should be. Both teams played on the edge and sometimes over it.
It was awesome and it's why I'm a hockey fan |

Speaking of that...
While Simmonds lost the fight that was a man out there fighting Engo with an already busted up face. That's the kind of player the Flyers have been missing. He's going to be a folk hero soon. |

Unfortunately that can be said about any game these days. People need to remember what hockey was like 20+ years ago. I can't even imagine what these boards would be like if Ulf was still playing. |

Asham played a shift within 5 minutes of that last shift. Both Vitale and Adams had been out for about ten minutes. Eneglland and Niskanen had played their last shift about two minutes prior.
I don't fault the Flyers for responding to the hit, I don't fault the Penguins for making the hit, and I don't fault Laviolette or Granato for chirping one another. I don't like that he called it gutless afterward...nor did I think that Crosby made a lick of sense in complaining about the crosscheck from Schenn - Jsaquella
Honestly do you think most of this happened bc of Crosby complaining? The entire game was chippy and players were doing things that should of been called.
I had no problem with anything yesterday because thats the way hockey should be played. I like it when each team has hatred for each other and coaches are yelling and arguing. Lavi just like any other coach/player got caught up in the moment but I have no problem with him calling the coach "Gutless". Just like I have no problem with Sid crying about stuff after the game. |

You cant honestly think Benoit's actions were that of a sane man. He obviously went bananas. How can people hate a guy like Benoit who was a victem of drug abuse forced upon him by his industry, and yet these same people love rappers that have killed in clear state of mind and boast about it... Society has it all backwards... We should Pity Benoit. - RooNosHockey
I don't know about anyone else, but I pity anyone who chokes their 7 year old son to death, after shooting him up with steroids for a few years... |

I was a little upset about him getting 17 at the start of the year but man oh man has shown he deserves it! Brindy is like my 2nd favorite Flyer of all time and Simmonds isn't quite the same player but he brings A LOT to the table that's for sure (fingers still crossed on Grossmann) |

My issue with Crosby complaining was what he said after the game. I don;t really have an issue with it, just see it as being a bit hypocritical. Both teams were chippy and nasty...Crosby's comments afterward, as well as Lavy's seemed to be self serving gamesmanship.
And honestly, if I was a Penguin, getting a good lick on Schenn would have been part of my MO from the moment he cross checked Crosby, regardless of what caused it. Crosby's the franchise. You want to hit the franchise, you're gonna pay the price. |

WWE looked really bad running a Benoit tribute show before having all the facts. I can guarantee it's one of Mcmahon's biggest regrets. |

Him and Coots for Carter is a steal along the lines of Gogo for Niskanen and Neal.

Thats the same way I feel about Giroux. So if your going to take shots at him and have Malkin hitting him in the back of the head while he lays on the ice then your going to pay the price. Its good that Schenn and Couturier didnt back down from Malkin or Crosby. |

There's rarely been a ruling based on intent in the NHL. They try to stay away from that.
There was chippy/nasty/dirty stuff both ways was my point. The confrontation at the end was one team sending a message, nothing big or wrong about it. Teams have been doing such things since the dawn of the NHL.
Guess what? The stuff about hacking at Giroux's hands is what teams do. That's why injuries are kept so secret - Jsaquella
No doubt about it. |
