I think it has more to do with team defense than individual matchups. Couts has great potential, but I'm not placing him above Richards yet. Another year or 2? Sure. But the team is buying into a more team-oriented style of playing, and it's showing. - steelydan
Agreed, but my basic point is overall the center match-up overall is much more even then in years past in my opinion. Certainly Roo has a lot to do with that because he is better then both Carter and Richards. Also, Read anchoring the 4th line give them a lot of depth. To me, it just seems the Malkin-Crosby and Staal advantage isn't nearly as great as year's past. Overall, I think the Flyers just have better forwards then the Pens. Both teams have great top end talent, I just think the bottom 6 forwards for the Flyers are just a little better.
You can argue both side until your blue in the face, but when you boil it down to the nitty gritty philly and pens have always been a great rivalry and will continue to be for years to come, when you get to teams like that playing at the end of a long season mix in the while playoff atmosphere because each team knows that they are going to face each other, they are allready starting to show who is better before the playoffs start if i am philly i want to make them afraid to come into the playoffs against us, it's all about getting to them now so that when the playoffs hit you continue that into the first round, i don't agree with people targeting other players, vitale may or may not have gone after grossmann i don't know i don't think that any players means to hurt another (except maybe todd B. lol) At the end of it all when all the dust clears we are going to see one of the best series of the playoffs i personally feel whoever comes out of this series will go to the finals, providing they still have a team left lol,
good luck to all the flyers fans out there this one should be Epic!!!!
It's too bad he's wearing his dentures in that pic, or you'd really be able to see the resemblance. - Hextall271
The problem is when you google "cooter" at work you don't get many Dukes of Hazzard pics and it would be tough explaining exactly what you were looking for

I had a much, much bigger issue with Vitale even being in the game at that point. Back in the first period, he ripped a page out of the Bryan Marchment handbook in the way he recklessly -- I won't say deliberately, because it's hard to judge intent -- stuck out his leg to initiate knee-to-knee contact with Flyers' shutdown defenseman Nicklas Grossmann.
watching the replay it's pretty clear he sticks his leg out to interfere with grossmann. he knew what he was doing. i wouldn't call it malicious, but it wasn't accidental. let's just hope he's ok.

Danny out indef UBI upper back contusion
Grossmann out 7 to 10 LBI Knee - phi1671
They are saying Briere has a contusion on his upper back... And out indefinitely? Did they mean concussion? WTF? Just as Briere was getting back to form.
Good news about Grossmann. Get him rested and healthy for the playoffs.

Both from questionable hits from the Pens. Don't really care what I sound like here; dress Shelley and any other goon we have to take runs at Sid and Letang...

they have two games before the rematch. The loss is Grossmann to where now they need to play Manning or someone else.
Danny out indef, it's the easy way out to say he's out indef. Just have them both sit out and get healthy.

I would assume Lilja would be next man up if he is healthy. I'm hoping Lilja can get into a couple of games before the playoffs starts.

the biggest difference from the last time they played in the playoffs is that the Flyers might have a tad more depth. You can easily say the Pens have more star power...it will be interesting... - phi1671
i think they have more heart, and better goaltending without question. put bryz on the '09 team, and they could have won that. not to blame biron..the team in front of him melted down in game 6.
Now I'm really pissed. Whoever said bring out the goons. You are 100% right. Screw home ice. Better road team anyways. I'm taking runs at all their players. Maybe a coach too.
