Plus, we still have Steve Macintyre buried in the minors...don't know if you guys caught him channelling his inner Oglethorpe down in WBS a few weeks ago.

lost in all of the nonsense is that BOB stopped 43 shots yesterday, many of the difficult variety, perhaps the most important being against crosby with 2 seconds left in the 2nd period of a tie game. he severely outplayed fleury, and has pretty much every time they've faced one another. fleury's numbers are hideous against the flyers in recent games. the pens should probably be most concerned about this more than anything else about the upcoming series. we know bryz will be in net, and if he falters or can't go because of the fracture, BOB is there to fill in. for whatever reason he plays his best against the pens, kind of like niitty against the thrashers.

Wow, he went after the goalie...impressive, and insane! - wolfhounds
Yeah, he definitely went off the deep end there. He was reportedly frustrated because no one would fight him. The Pens carried him on the roster for half the season, but he almost never played. Even when he did, no one one drop the mits with him. One dimensional guys like him who really can't play are the true goons whose usefulness is largely over....that's why I objected to some of your posters accusing the Pens of "rolling out the goons" yesterday...the Pens don't even have a goon on the roster anymore, lol.
You guys can have home ice. We'll rest all our players. Play them against the Rags so we can get some confidence against them. Then start to dwindle ice time for our big boys. Then saturday you guys can go head hunting out back ups. Home ice doesn't seem to do you any good against us.

In general, the Pens biggest issue lately has been way to any goals against...they've gotten into the bad habit of just trying to outscore opponents and trying to make too many cute plays in dangerous areas.

so much for the folks who said he (Bob) couldn't win the big games and only beat inferior opponents. He played great yesterday. Glad to see it. It goes to show how important it is to have a capable backup in this league.

I love Bob as a backup and give him all the credit in the world for being a rookie last year and getting us into the playoffs. Unfortunately, I'm guessing his time on the Flyers is limited.
Regardless, you are right...he played well yesterday and it's good he's getting the work before the playoffs start.

and if the offense didn't produce like it did that pat on the back might be two feet lower and morphed into a kick in the pants. He played good but had that been a loss alot less praise would have been heaped on him. Just saying....

That's always the way it goes. But a loss yesterday wouldn't have changed my opinion of Bob and the fact that I believe he is a very solid goalie who is only going to get better as he matures and gets more experience.
He barely spoke English last year, it was his rookie season, and he did phenomenally well. What's not to like?
