when a new management group comes in, they will gain instatnt credibility by undoing as many of the msesses of the past regime as possible. - rob121
There's really only 2 that stick out.

Hopefully the roof fixing era is over, this team needs a plan, don't tell the fans you're going for the cup when your team sucks. If you're rebuilding for a couple years...say it, play the young guys, people will support the team. |

I will but you just have to look at the treatment young guys like Subban, Price, Eller even earlier Pacioretty get when they screw up or don't play to par, to know that the fans will get disgruntled. |

Burying him is really the only way to go. If a trade can be made, fine. - Pie
It would be another stupid contract coming back, he must be sent down Pie, period. |

Not necessarily Pete. I'd be curious to know what NYI offered that he supposedly turned down. But obviously you don't want to do a Spacek for Kaberle like deal. |

Symba, in MTL? I don't recommend any GM or coach to suggest that at anytime. can't see any season ticket holder accepting that either, not at those tix prices. |

As dumb as this option sounds, keeping Gomez next year might be an option. He could be traded the following year for a team looking to hit the cap floor as his salary is only $4.5 million. |

Its hard to convince fans this is a rebuild when you have old players like markov and kaberle taking playing time away from the prospects. |

It's all about communication. People are not stupid, unless you hit a home run at the draft like Philly and Detroit, most other teams that are competing for the cup went through a rebuilding process that involved low draft picks. Habs are no different, as long as they think they are, they will be a middle of the pack team on a good year. |

I think teams would rather overpay for a free agent for 1 year that might actually be useful for something |

Probably, but he can still be useful as a penalty killer. It is $3 million in artificial cap hit. |

I don't mind him around if the team comes out and say they are rebuilding and let the young guys play but the problem is the Habs are convinced they are too good for that. |

You need to find a good GM first. If you get a guy in here and makes a few panic moves and goes after a veteran player, you can't really call it a rebuild. |

that's for sure, Habs should be cleaning house and retool, a short rebuild would really go a long way, they already have some good assets. |

I wouldn't mind seeing gionta go out the door either. Too small and too much money. |
