Just curious but where do you get that?

Habs have that image of themselves that they are royalty, it was that way with the last management group, hopefully things will change with the new comers.

Do you think they will hire the best person available or will they have to go with an ex-player that has handcuffed our team for years now?

I wouldn't mind seeing gionta go out the door either. Too small and too much money.
- cburgess

yeah same not too crazy about him but I don't think he's a detriment and it's not like they're bursting at the seams with guys who can pot 20

Question for y'all, considering Price's contract situation should we consider trading our 2x2nd round picks to get Malcom Subban if he's still available somewhere in the 1st round ?

I have no idea...but from what Savard said, the new group will be young and speak French....not much else.

From those mentioned so far, nobody strikes me as the obvious solution.

I don't think thats necessarily true. I think Gainey's biggest flaw as an evaluator of talent is in thinking that everyone that pulls on the jersey will gut it out like he did night in and night out. I'm not sure he recognizes the spoiled attitude of todays pro player.

So a team that needs to reach the cap floor, pays a POS as little as 4.5mil, and upwards of 5mil just to reach the cap floor. Why not pay 2 decent guys 2.5 ml each? This "to reach the cap floor thing" baffles me.

Imagine PK's flashy personality x 2 with one constantly on the ice. I think we'll be the most hated team in hockey lol.

I agree with you that Gomez i a long shot at 4.5 or 5.5 but his cap hit is 7.5 or whatever and his salary is 4.5, so the idea is pay him 3 less than the cap hit.

Nah....grab a netminder in late 2nd round (Nsh pick) is they want another netminder but the first 2 picks should be used to get better. I actually see the Habs moving their 2nd round pick with one of the 3 they have next year to grab a late (around 22-24) to grab a guy they really want, maybe someone like Wilson.

I guess it all depends on where the new CBA and where the cap floor a year from now. $4.5 million is not a huge salary even now.

That's exactly what the Panthers did paid for useful players, instead of taking crap.

If a team was desprate, they might claim him off waivers for nothing.
