I did enjoy those 1980's series. You got a real good hate on for opposing teams. - Jsaquella
I think you can still do that, IE: Chicago Vancouver. All it takes is one playoff series. |

Haven't been this excited for the playoffs in a long time. This year has a much different feel to it than years past, IMO. - funmaster18
It does have a different feeling. I just hope Bryz and Grossmann can comeback in the same form they left in. |

You can, for sure, but I have such a deep hatred for teams like the Rangers and Habs that were born from seeing them every year in the playoffs.

Bill Meltzer: Flyers Gameday: 4/3/12 vs. Rangers - bmeltzer
We've been playing solid hockey lately but a lot of that has to do with guys like Grossmann and Bryzgalov but both are hurt. This isn't to say I'm forgetting about other players such as Giroux, Simmonds and Hartnell. I'm just saying that our number 1 goaltender and solid deadline pick up have placed us over the hump. These are players I'd especially like to see in the line up against a team we've had trouble against all season long. It's a shame because with a healthy line up, tonight would be a much much different story. I'm not counting us out yet but I like our chances with Bryz and Gross. |

For all intents and purposes, the Flyers and Penguins are in the same situation right now heading into these final three games.
Philly needs to be up two points on the Pens after the Buffalo game to render next Saturday's outcome in Pittsburgh meaningless. Due to the tiebreaker, which the Flyers have already clinched, the Penguins need to be up three points on Philly to do the same prior to the final game, but already have one extra point from shootouts in their favor.
If the Flyers beat both the Rangers and Sabres -- by any means necessary -- and the Pens no better than 1-1-0 or 0-1-1 this week, it won't matter what happens in the final game in Pittsburgh. If the Flyers win both games and the Penguins go at least 1-0-1, it comes down to the final game.
If the Flyers lose either to the Rangers or Sabres in regulation, they've still got a shot in the final game so long as Pittsburgh doesn't go at least 1-0-1 to take a three-point lead.
If Philly loses in OT/SO in one game and wins the other, they will still have a shot in the final game regardless of what the Pens do this week because Philly would enter the final game two points out. - bmeltzer
All of that being said, am i crazy to think that it doesnt really matter? There is a psychological benefit and sure it would be nice to have home ice, but I would rather rest our guys as much as possible for the remainder of the regular season. Id like to beat the Rangers tonight and have Bob get some good work in, but NO MORE INJURIES. The difference between 4 and 5 is not worth that much blood shed. |

Positive thought of the day, only one Flyers injury tonight, not the usual two. Baby steps.... Ya know? |

Looks like Shelley is in tonight, not Holmstrom. At least Dave Isaac thinks so.
Dave Isaac @davegisaac #Flyers lines will be 19-28-68; 10-24-17; 27-14-93; 45-47-36 D pairs will be 44-5; 25-13; 6-43
I say put him out for the opening faceoff and see if Torts goes nuts like he did in the NJ game. Plus, he's a proven performer in these late season games.
