I think it's going to be very hard to keep Carle after this signing. - stveshdy
Carle is a pretty important lock up...esp when the other puck mover is all likely set to retire next year. I would think they would trade forward depth, not resign Jagr in order to get something hammered out with him |

First what's going to happen with Pronger has to be figured out. The odds of all those players you listed being on the team next year is slim to none. - MJL
Aren't all signed except for Carle (or is MAB up?) Are you saying there is slim to none chance Carles resigns. Do you think they would look to trade a piece out of the D core to sign him? |

I think the odds are against Carle being retained. What's going to happen with Pronger? At this point, who knows what's going to happen. But something has to happen with somebody.

I think its safe for us to operate as if Pronger will not ever come back. |

It's not about how we'll operate. It's about how the Flyers will operate. When will they know if Pronger is going to play next year or not? By the draft? By July 1? |

True, but there will be somewhat of a handcuff in the off season because you can only spend 10% over the cap. And if I am not mistaken Pronger counts against the cap during the off season right? Once the season starts his number goes on LTIR, but before then it kind of hampers what they can do in free agency to a degree right? I may be mistaken.

Your not mistaken. I have no idea how they're going to deal with that.

Only way I see Carle back is if they deal a salary that's at least $4m |

Tonight, we dyed eggs, celebrated my mom-in-law's birthday, & talked about jerseys. My wife wants an Everett Silvertips Jersey (her favorite Jr. team) and it is known whose Jersey I want. (Stupid autocorrect capitalized jersey) |

Hopefully the new CBA will allow for teams to be able to get out contracts of career ending serious injuries/concussions like Pronger. That might be their only hope |

I'm not sure Kimmo is a lock to come back next year. He's 37 and his back isn't getting better. I'm sure he'll let the Flyers know pretty quickly either way. I thought the price for Grossmann was very reasonable and well deserved. Coburn and Grossmann have been a very effective shut down tandem.

Think he'll walk away from 6.3? Flyers will gladly have him |

Timonen's salary is 3M next year, not 6.3M.

You may want to check out his contract, he would be walking away from $3 million, I expect him back, but I wouldn't call it a lock. |

I do also.
Even without a healthy Pronger and Carle leaving:
Grossmann-Coburn
Meszy-Timmonen
Lilja-Bourdon (or Guftsy, Manning)
Still a pretty formidable top 6
