This is Leino's pic from his TSN player page:
I had the same reaction after seeing he had 25 points this year. - feelingkettle
You cannot see his forehead vein in that photo.
A twitter person I follow calls him Billy Veino. How rude! |

I'm willing to bet Briere will be back... But if he isnt.. I would call up Zulnerzcyk and put Wellwood at center.

I have my doubts that Briere will return, because I have no idea what his injury is. He was heating up and is imperative to the Flyers chances. They need the point per game or something close to that in this series against the Penguins. Flyers are going to have to score goals to win this series. I don't see there being many 2-1 games. |

The concern is how well will the rookies play in their first ever playoff series. |

I think we all read too much in to indefinitely. I think people see that and think it means forever, when it actually means undetermined.
He will be back for the playoffs, game 1, in Pittsburgh. Lead pipe lock.

Carle is soft. Hopefully he picks up his game for the playoffs as he's been average the last couple.
Anybody else annoyed that 2 of the top 3 teams in the East have to play each other in the 1st round? I mean, it's exciting as well...but it can be exciting and retarded, they aren't mutually exclusive.
And Saturday's game is probably going to be so boring...although Igor is going to try to score his 50th goal of the season on us. Not good. - wolfhounds
The same situation is happening in the West as well. You have Detroit and Nashville playing in round one (both over 100 points) and LA getting the third seed with less points. |

Hopefully all those tired legs get a serious shot of adrenaline and the rooks take it to another level. After all, they are young and should have plenty of juice for the second season.
I predict Coots becomes a player possessed and shows everybody why he will be among the elite in a few years. |

Today is going to be a slow day, so why not discuss..... If JVR, Briere, and Grossmann come back healthy... What are your lines? How do you sit?
Hartnell-Giroux-Jagr
Read-Briere-Simmonds
JVR-Schenn-Voracek
Talbot-Couturier-Wellwood
Rinaldo (HS)
Carle-Kubina
Timonen-Coburn
Grossmann-Bourdon
Lilja (HS)
I think Wellwood gives that 4th line pop with scoring and is better defensively, and wont get any boarderline penalities Rinaldo would, and can play the PK... I like the way Bourdon plays and IMO it balances out the defense a lot better then keeping Timonen on the right side... Though I hated breaking up Grossmann-Coburn... otherwise you have to put in Lilja and keep Timonen on the right... - RooNosHockey
agreed, wellwood brings more to the table with his speed and penalty killing.. but Rino does bring energy, which i'd say keeps the team engaged in the game.

Yupper. Two dominant divisions, one East, one West, and then everybody else. I understand it is what it is, but it's impossible to say the best team is going to win when you are going to have weaker teams advance to the 2nd round by way of the seeding. |

I've expected more from Schenn. Injuries have really hurt his development this year but he will need to produce in the playoffs for the Flyers. I don't expect him to be one of the leading scores but it would be nice if he could manage to put the puck in the net and give the Flyers another scorer. |

Upsets happen so it doesnt mean the best teams would advance anyways. |

True. That's why they still have to play the games. But I would argue if 8 beats 1, 1 was not the better team, at least not for that series of games. That's different from the seeding structure though. |

Agreed. It's easy to see his potential, he just isn't quite there yet. It would be awesome if he really comes alive for the POs.

Yeah. Its a game of matchups. The Flyers have done well against the Pens. I would be more concerned if we opened the playoffs with NYR or Boston because they seem to handle us this year. Once the playoffs start anything can happen as the regular season is a thing of the past. |

Schenn is one of those guys I feel that definintely has another level to his play when the big games arrive.
This is what I'm most interested to see from the young players. I think all of Schenn, Read, Simmonds and Coots all have another level of play. I think Rinaldo will not. I hope Read can handle the increased physicality in the PO's as he's probably the smallest in stature. Briere has shown over the years he can do it. |
