Would you guys be in favor of a coach's challenge in the NHL? How would you set it up?
To me, I like video reply to get calls right. I would give each coach 3 challenges a game... You can challenge a call against you... For example if a ref calls a high stick, but it so happens to be the stick of a team-mate and not the opponent, the penalty would be reversed and there would be a face-off at center ice.
You could also throw a flag during play if the coach sees something the ref's did not, such as a high stick to a player, too many men on the ice, etc... The play would immediately stop, and the play reviewed... If the Coach wins the challenge the penalty is called..
Here is the catch. People will say that coaches will use this all the time and 3 per coach is 6 per game... and would slow the game down drastically. My idea to keep this from happening is to issue a 2 minute bench minor for delay of game if you lose the call. Now the coaches have to take into consideration how close the call is, or if the cameras have a good view of the call to over turn it. If your already assessed a penality and you lose... now its a 2-man advantage... If your trying to go to the PP and lose... now your on the PK. So its likely the challenges will only be used in sure situations.
Holmstrom sounds likely if Danny isn't good to go. As for JVR, I certainly don't see him in for the start of this series. I think it's more likely we see him (Lord willing) back for the second round. - BulliesPhan87
I heard JVR liked college so much that he enrolled in a few correspondence courses while he has been on IR. He's been getting good grades and doesn't want to miss any class time so he is going to milk the time off until he is 120% heathy, and then he'll start skating for a comeback.
EDIT: He should be ready just in time for him to get injured again so he can avoid a trade.
I sure hope with the new arena in Quebec, and the players vito of the new re-alignment, the whole idea dies because the playoff format would be aweful news for the "Atlantic" and "Central" conferences... We do know that next year Winnipeg will still be in the SE as Bettman said last year if the re-alignment wasnt in place by December (I think) they wouldnt be making any changes for next season... Hopefully the new Quebec arena is in place and the Coyotes will be moved east, causing just a slight re-alignment in the divisions.

If Howard can take ground balls in a boot, why cant we strap a skate to JVR's boot?
Dude...wanting to drop to 6th to face FLA and now this. You are all aboot the easy path eh.

I would hate to lose the Atlantic rivalries, but.... part of me would rejoice at division winners for the next 10 years... Its only 10 less rivalry games a year, and you gain 2 more agaisnt the caps which is a decent rivalry... so only really 8 less.
