Maybe, but the travel in the Western Conf. is brutal compared to the Eastern Conf. That can't be understated.
I'm still awaiting a Flyers President's Trophy, Norris Trophy, Calder Trophy, Rocket Richard.... I will stop now before I get depressed.... - PLindbergh31
I would take a trip through Alberta over a back to back with the Flyers any day of the week. If I'm looking for points that is. I wouldn't trade the playoff match up for anyone. |

Probably trying to convince himself he can & that it's worth the risk. - ob18
He's a hockey player ob, if it wasn't for doctors half these guys might be dead because they don't want to believe what their bodies are telling them. |

Grossmann was priority # 1, like you stated a few days ago. Next priority is to lock up Voracek. After that, Flyers are going to have to get creative in finding a way to replace Carle. - PLindbergh31
I dont know if they will replace Carle but what they can do is find another defenseman who fits what their looking for cheaper. They will need the other guys to step up and eat more minutes. Going into the season I didnt expect the Flyers to have the depth that they do. MAB, Gus, Manning (limited time) all did a decent job this year. |

Yeah, the Western Conf had some real weak links this year. Edmonton and Columbus being the two worst teams in the NHL by a significant margin.
Playoffs are always fantastic, one thing that is guaranteed is chalk won't hold up. It never does. |

If the D-core next year is:
Timonen
Grossmann
Coburn
Meszaros
Player X
MAB
That is fairly solid, depending who player X is. Of course the best case scenario is player X is Pronger. |

I said during this past summer I would love for the Flyers to trade for J. Quick and looking at his numbers this season the guy played amazing. |

I know, however some may still need to convince themselves for whatever reasons & in this case like others it's wise to have those people around him. |

I wanted Quick as well. Not sure he was available. |

Rumors said he was because of Bernier. The Kings made the right choice and held on to both. Bernier is going to be a starter in this league and Quick is to good at this point to move. |

Yes no doubt. My only point is you can't trust the players because they'll just tell you they're good to go. He wants to play and I worry if he all of a sudden feels "fine" because they get down 0-2 in the series or something. |

The reports I read online was that Toews was doing well and not having any problems. He was suppose to dress Thursday and then was held back. I dont know if he is having symptoms or he is being held out for the playoffs. |

On top of that he is due a huge raise that would kick in for the '13-'14 season.
I'd also doubt he would have been moved they still really don't know what they have behind him since he's played so well. |

He may say he has no problems but others may see something else that doesn't appear right. He's young & has a long career ahead of him, it's wise to play it safe. |

Everyone talks about Lundqvist but Quick is the best goalie in the league this season. |

I posted a quote from him last page, he is admitting to having symptoms on the ice. Which tells me he's a long way off. |

The doctors gave him clearance for contact and was practicing. Things can change fast in a hurry but I didnt think he was having an issue again. Hopefully they held him out for the playoffs but if he is having problems it would be wise to shut him down until next year. |

I saw, but that can change everyday with how he feels. We know the team is doing the right thing, that's all that matters. |

Quick, Lundqvist, and Smith all basically had equal seasons. It truly is splitting hairs separating them numbers wise. It is virtually a dead heat. I suspect Lundqvist will win the Vezina due to his teams success as well as name recognition. And last but not least he plays in NYC. |

It's really hard to judge because of the styles the teams play. I wouldn't take any other goalie over Fleury, only because I think his athletic style is needed for the Pens style. The Rangers and Kings both play a style that allows alot of perimeter shots. I don't know, just hard for me to gauge. For my money Rinne is the best goaltender in the game but there really isn't alot of seperation between the top 5 or so. |

NYR 11th in goals for
LAK 29th in goals for
LAK 2nd in goals against
NYR 3rd in goals against
Quick and Lundqvist are very close numbers wise. I think Quick should win it when your team cant score. |

Fair point. I wouldn't have an issue if Quick won it. |
