It wouldnt have mattered if it was a scoring line or the flyers fourth line. The debate is over the timing of that type of hit.
But yes, personally I would not have had Briere on the ice. But only because I would rather have one of our 4th line guys out of the lineup instead of Briere. If Kyle Wellwood was the one who took the hit and now has "back spasms" the same debate reamains, but I would be more comfortable with him hurt than Briere with the playoffs right around the corner. - BradTardforGM
I am not so sure it is about the timing of the hit as much as it is about what was said on the ice prior to that hit. Yea the hit was late in the game but for EVERYONE to immediately react the way they did on the Flyers... I will always feel as though there was talk of injuring a Flyers player prior to that hit taking place.

Flyers need to beat the Penguins in the scoreboard.
Laugh at Steve MacIntyre all game long. Keep Shelly on the bench, let Rinaldo run Crybaby or Egor if they start it.
I know Flyer Fans get harassed in wearing the O&B glasses all the time BUT i have never seen a fan base as blind as the Pens fan base when it comes to Malkin and Crosby...and at one point Cooke...
As a Penguins fan, I'll admit Crosby does a lot of slashing and whatever behind the play, most stars do that, but perhaps Sid more. He absolutely deserved something from Schenn, I just would prefer Schenn going face to face, not to his back when he's going to the bench.
As far as Vitale on Briere, I believe he would have hit him there even if Sid never got hit, it wasn't in response, it is just the way Vitale plays. What are they supposed to do, stop playing because the game is out of reach? Don't think for a second the Flyers wouldn't lay the same hit if situation was reversed. I see your point it wasn't necessary, but don't act like it wasn't just hard hockey. There should be no issue with the 4th line being on, it wasn't like they targeted someone, they saw an opportunity for a big clean hit and took it.
As far as Mac being called up, the Pens are worried the Flyers might respond to last game, why not have your monster up to police it. I really don't think the Flyers will start anything, but why take the chance? The Pens will not start anything either. It will be a good hard game, a preview of the next 2 weeks.
I wish everyone would stop whining and play hockey. It really doesn't get much better than this. May the best team win and still have enough left to go through the rest of the East.
PS...the Cindy Crysby stuff is old and makes you look like a child. Grow up and have good hockey discussions. Same with Philthadelphia Cryers...seriously?

It will be interesting to see who is dressed and who isn't for both teams. I see no reason to play Timonen and no reason for Pitt to play Letang or Crosby. It will probably not live up to expectations..

What's old is new...this is league wide not just Philly or New York. Mario runs his mouth about how the game is played but he should deal with his own backyard before he opens his mouth.
We have never said the hit wasn't clean, there was intent.
What's your point? That stuff is very dirty or cheap, but throw Schenn's clip up as well. I'm not going to blindly defend Sid, but it happens from every player, every night. The problem is most fans are oblivious when it is their team doing it. I'm not that fan. Admit what Schenn did wasn't right and stop defending him with "yeah, well you did it first".
And any intelligent Pens fan (I'll admit there aren't many) is annoyed by all the Crosby worshiping that goes on around the league and media as well, it would do everyone some good if they would stop going out of their way to make him look perfect, no one wants that except the league.

Your comparing a normal cross check to the back that happens almost every game to and extend, to a player punching another player in the back of the head, and in the balls. I'm just making sure?

When has Cindy ever handled anything face to face? Remember the sneak attack on Brett mclean. Crysby will never do anything face to face It's always funny!

Oh please, Mario had an issue with the Isles attacking a goalie, Talbot from behind, and Tangradi's head...not slashes and knee to knee hits and clean checks late in the game. You really are grasping at straws by bringing Mario into any of this.
This is all so blown out of proportion...Schenn's hit was barely a thing, should have been forgotten...the Vitale hit should have been nothing...coaches are soft now...Byslma should have kept his mouth shut about Schenn and Lavy should have kept his cool

What's your point on Schenn because they never show the full clip to bring on the cross check. If you want a Flyers fan to say the what Schenn did was wrong...okay....HERE IT GOES.
what Schenn did was wrong but if you remember he was penalized for it but it was taken back due to the goal being scored. Where Sid poop is hardly called. That's the big picture...

So your stance is "I think your player is a baby who cheap shots players...we're going to be babies who cheap shot too"?

BOOM...exactly...Schenn was wrong...Sid was wrong first and honestly often throughout the game...I would LOVE Sid to stop the slashing...because it would lead to less people targeting him back

you truly have one sided opinion with your team. it's okay, this is what we all expect...good day

Malkin and Crosby are great players. However, they do initiate a lot of slashes and questionable tactics and hardly get called by the referees. Obviously, other teams' fan bases watch this and grow frustrated. I certainly don't expect this preferential treatment of star players not to continue, but it does seem Crosby and Malkin tend to intiate some questionable stuff on the ice more then some of the other star players currently in the league. I could be wrong, but that is my two cents on the situation.
