I agree, the 3rd pick was their for the taking by Toronto, hec even Edmonton had a chance to pass the Leafs, but the Leafs f*ucked that up to. The only team that we couldn't go below was the Jackets. With a little bit of bad luck hec the Leafs could be picking 29th & have their choice of either Russian top rated center.

What I see happening, the Jackets take RW Yakupov. Edmonton will draft a d-man, Montreal will take the one of the two Russian centers, Isles have Tavares at center plus they have another top prospect centerman in Strome, so they won't be taking a center, they'll probably grab a d-man, that leaves the Leafs to choose either the other Russian center or the other center from Sweden Forsberg.

If the Leafs with the 5th pick don't get bumped out of that pick like what happened with Ottawa last year when NJ with the 8th pick won the lottery, jumping up to 4th, as long as this doesn't happen to TO, Leafs should get one of the top centers.

Usually when the lottery is done, the draft order remains the same, as with the Stamkos & Tavares drafts. Once every blue moon we see a fluke like when Chcago finished 26th & won the lottery & grabbed Towes, or NJ who unbelievably won the lottery at 8th & moved up to 4th, thus pissing off everyone in Ottawa. But that doesn't happen at every draft.

i just hope leafs dont trade the 5th overall pick for iginla (usually burke fleeces them, dont get me wrong, i wouldnt mind having iginla on the leafs but not at the expense of the 5th overall pick)

Leafs have a BIG hole at center & in goal. If I was Burke & I could grab one of top 3 centers with the 5th pick, I would do it. However, if let's say all 3 centers are gone b4 the Leafs select 5th, than I offer that pick to Vancouver for Schnieder.
It's waste for the Leafs to select another d man or a winger. By the time that 5 pick is selected the Leafs had better had filled one of their holes, wheither or not it means Burke had to trade the pick to do it.
