The Flyers beat Boston, and went out celebrating. The next morning, Pelle Lindbergh was brain dead. |

So the moral of the story is if you can build a time machine and go back to 1990 and convince the Flyers GM (Farwell?? at that point?) to pick Jagr, you probably destroy the future of the Penguins - Emperor Filonius
Ok, as opposed to stopping you keep driving the dagger in over and over again....

I would have just stolen his (frank)ing car. Then he would have had to take a taxi - Jsaquella
or slashed the tires or siphoned the gas or thrown cinder blocks through all the windows. whatever means necessary. i'm just saying that if pelle lived, the history of the flyers franchise is different than what it is, and by extension, changes the history of all the other franchises. |

The Avs also had another guy who was a superstar level player in Sakic, plus Roy, who was still in his prime in 1996 - Jsaquella
That, too. But I was trying not to give the whole rant. |

if roy doesn't get left in for 9 goals, again, we have a different course of history. and if the nords had convinced lindros to play for them, perhaps they don't end up moving to colorado. if they stay in quebec, roy never gets traded there. |

It's always cute to have these deep dark conspiracy theories, but if we've learned anything in the past 20 years it is that it is impossible to keep a secret. Too many people need to know in order to do something underhanded and someone always can't resist telling either through spite or self interest. - bodiva88
I don't feel there's any conspiracy. The Pens didn't tank purposely, they had serious financial issues. Every time they traded a guy, or Mario returned, it was a financial issue. Fortunately, the Flyers have not had to face those kind of issues. |

to add some detail, it was their 10th straight win - hence the celebration - as keenan gave them an unplanned full day off as a reward. |

True. Hell, I;d go back further and tell the Flyers to ignore Ron Sutter and take that big Stevens kid instead. |

Actually, Bill Meltzer was involved in writing a book about Pelle. It's an amazingly good, and sad, read.

Bill and Thomas did a great job. It gives an in depth look at Lindbergh through all stages of his life and how he was as a person. I had wet eyes a few times. |

bill daly on the tsn lottery show saying they have no reason to change the way it works, as the competitiveness and parity is unparalleled. as of this season, 29 of the 30 teams have qualified for the playoffs since the lockout. poor maple fans. |
