reading his quotes again is enough to make me ill....absolute delusion.
burke is without a doubt the guy I wanted for this job, when he talked about all the mean nasty hockey coming to toronto and building from the net out, I was ready to wait for that to grow.
listening to his bullshat today almost 4 years later, about how he is going to acquire 4-5 big bodies so he can play a mean nasty style, and how he needed to address the goaltending, just came across as empty promises coming from a sad and defeated soldier. - Barx
He is gone next year... He went on and on about making the playoffs to win a championship. Not to make it as the 8th seed... well i gotta say.. at least being the 8th seed gives you a chance to win the cup... as small as it is. Who cares... longest cup and playoff drought in hockey. Just make the playoffs burke and the fans will be calling you god... he doesn't seem to grasp that |

I think he'll get a young'ish, potential to be a decent #1 in the league, someone perhaps a little older than Reimer. What Craig Anderson or Mike Smith were a couple of years ago.
Not saying they're the answer but Bernier or Harding is my guess. - Domidives
Since Bernier will cost a high pick or prospect, it's gonna be Harding......or...wait for it......

why does it have to be either. "reimer is the real deal" we just need someone to carry his bag and to fill in on those back to back nights |

true enough...to hell with a mentor....or a challenger to push him.....'the real deal' will hold the fort. |

i was pretty upset by Burke. he started getting red and pissy but then calmed down again. it would have been awesome he he started dropping f bombs and then had a cardiac and knocked the whole set over yelling fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuk - tangocash001
I would (frank)ing pay big $$ to see that. Almost as fun as a cup run... almost. |

eller for halak?
not exactly an arm or leg.
howzabout a 2nd for Bishop?
a million bucks for a guy like Vokoun?
it ain't that damn hard.
the problem is that burke is stubborn, just check back to the good ole vancouver tandems. - Barx
Doesn't count that Vokoun's agent is stupid |

I say trade up for Yakupov, why the hell not? He's a good lefty who is now NHL ready, and maybe next year the leafs might not have o rely on 2 guys to score. Also Columbus has said they will move it, maybe for a 1st, macarthur +. |

Draft Galchenyuk or Forsberg to play with Kessel. Now they might be ready for next year, but those 2 are impact centers that would really help the leafs. Trade for Schneider or sign Josh Harding this year. DUMP useless players like Crabb, Armstrong, Lombardi, and get some real 3rd liners! And sign PARISE, do not sell the farm for the overrated Nash. |

If he got one of those or Schiender or Lindback would TOR fan base give him credit for trying if they ended up not being able to handle a #1 workload? |

The bigger question/concern will be what will be left for the new GM? When Burke left VAN the prospect pool was a vacuum. He did the same in ANA. I think TOR needs to give Burke as much time as possible because the alternative doesn't look pretty. |
