Burke's presser today was another damning evidence of how much crap he is filled with. He was all over the map with this idiotic comments. He looked like a salesman going door to door trying to sell knives and his sales pitch was twice as bad.
He says he wants to build a championship team, not just get into 8th and get his ass kicked. Then why the hell did you sign Connolly, Armstrong and Komisarek? But reminded everybody that he didn't want to do a five year plan. Now he's trying to preach that he has "championship building blocks" in Kessel, Lupul, Gardiner and Phaneuf. I wonder what he would have said if they held onto 8th place. I bet you he wouldn't be saying "We made 8th and now we're going to get our ass kicked". He'd probably be saying the good ole "anything can happen in the playoffs".
Burke is pissing and moaning about how his team isn't tough enough because of Ron Wilson and yet that he believed in him as a coach. Keep in mind that Burke was also preaching being a big, tough team while still maintaining that Kessel is part of a championship team. Which one is it Burke? Big and tough or soft and weak?
The best part about it was how he capped it off. He said he was born impatient and that he'll die impatient. He says he wants to build a championship team but refused to trade guys like MacArthur for a 1st round pick because "it might take 3 years for that player to develop". Here's a news flash for you Burke; building championship teams TAKE TIME AND PATIENCE two things you CLEARLY do not have.
Hurry up and get fired you idiot. Your time is up.

much like BB himself, you are oversimplifying a large amount of this.... it would be unrealistic to expect BB to not be emotional with the manner in which the season wrapped up, having to fire good ole Ronny, etc, etc.
and it would counterproductive for the team to replace the GM at this point. if you look at BB body of work, we've all debated the good and the "not so good" moves, there's absolutely no way that he can't realize what needs to be done to correct direction. from several perspectives having the leafs falter as they did down the stretch is exactly what was needed.
1) BB humbled. Not "in front of the media humbled".. .but perhaps (and I suspect) in the management meetings he will be less likely to try and jamb his agenda down other's throats... which to me means guys like Dudley may have more input that we suspect
2) BB has to recognize that to improve the club - he has to clean out dead weight. We've all debated Komisarek's NMC, that Connolly only has a year left, that Lombardi deserves another chance, that Armstrong simply hasn't been healthy enough... cold hard fact that Bb has to be looking at every morning in the mirror -the veterans added - largely BB marquee FA signings haven't delivered. Time to clear them out
3) BB admitting - without throwing the Monster under the bus - that he's done. They're keeping Reimer and they'll try and find another goalie... isn't that what the more sophisticated fans have been asking for?
4) BB said in at least two different forums he's not giving up the pick - maybe he'll look to move up... but he's not moving the pick. Lesson learned.
So with the beligerent BB having to acknowledge his errors, who better to correct them? I'd rather have him stick around and try and straighten out what needs to be corrected, than to bring in another guy, who'll restart the same cycle.
At least the team as it is now is young, compared to the collection of no-marks on the roster BB inherited.
Clear CAP, clear roster spots. Get a goalie and draft as smartly as possible.
And drop the egotistical Mr good guy routine - if a player stinks demote him or get rid of him. And if a marquee FA want's a 12 year deal... simply consider if its better to take that chance or not get the player.
