Jared Knight cost the Leafs Brandon Saad and Michael Paliotta. The Leafs had to trade two draft picks to get the 2nd round pick that became Knight so that they could threaten Boston with an offer sheet.

what about the years before crosby? they were no where near a 100pt team. lemieux barely spent anything to keep that team functional, let alone competitive.

there's plenty to dump on BB for, but not following the 'PIT model' isn't. in fact, it's a myth, it only works if you're team drafts a generational talent (crosby, lindros, etc), not just a pretty good one (bobby ryan, john tavares).

the biggest problem is BB had a chance to draft seguin and hamilton, and instead traded those high end picks for kessel. kessel is the right player, AT THE WRONG TIME!

Yakupov is too good to play in the OHL next year so chances are he will be in the NHL next year.

But dont forget Boston hurts without Kessel, he was there pure goal scorer, they just dont care because they won the cup. But yeah i would rather have Seguin Hamilton just because Seguins better down low and is a center plus i really like Doug Hamilton.

One thing i really realized is Boston is really regarded as a tough team... But looking at there roster there not overly tough. two of there top players are power forwards in Lucic and Horton and Marchand is a tough little guy. So 3 players in there top six are pretty tough guys... And there 3rd line really has no tough players at all, then the only real tough guy on there 4th line is Thornton.. There defense has Chara and Mcquaid... But still the only real tough guys on the team are Chara Lucic and Thronton... And Marchands a wiener too and a real good agitator. But thats only like 4 guys, and it just gives protection to the rest of the team. It also doesnt hurt that Chara Lucic and Marchand are on the ice so much, so they have a lot of minutes with tough players on the ice. Id say Ryan Malone and Brandon PRust would be great additions to the leafs and they should be a lot tougher as a whole just because of these two players, Prust is a UFA this summer and Malone shouldnt be to overly difficult to acquire besides his no trade clause.

Hartley is a better coach than Tippett. -QP

I think Kessel can be a lot better if hes protected from goons, and Kadri and Grabovski are guys i think can really get nasty if they have good protection, especially Kadri i think if hes got good tough guys around him he can play with that confidence and swagger and bite he needs to be successful and when he has that game going hes deadly.

Yeah it sure is... But i definatly think they woulda had a top seed had Kessel still been on there team instead of Kessel. And they might have won some serises with more ease.
