The only Leaf fan female dogs around here are ones who would look at that list, be satisfied, and say "Futrue=Bright". Talk about unwavering committment! - triggermartin
Well thought out response....come to expect that from you.
If you're not going to rebut that any of the players listed have top six forward, top 4dman, or #1 goalie potential, then this conversation is over from my end. |

Yeah, you're right.....
I guess thinking that the #1 goalie in the AHL might actually become a #1 in the NHL one day is to far of a stretch.... - Pen15
Thomas didn't get to be a number 1 until in his 30s. Patience is a good thing.... |

Technically every prospect has potential....Like Ek saying every trade is possible.
What excites me about prospects is if they get selected to their Country's world junior team and do well or they have success in the AHL. Other than that, they just have potential.... - cracka
The post is directed specifically to either top six, top 4dman, or #1 goalie potential. |

Too bad the last guy to do what Thomas did was Johnny Bower. Pretty much once every 40 years. |

So maybe now the Leafs will be able to deal with CBJ and get Nash for 1st, Gardiner and a 2nd. You guys would have a pretty good offense. - riceroni

Yeah, but Burke isn't interested in a 14 year rebuild. |

Realistically, what do you think the price tag for Luongo would be should Burke be interested and the Canucks stick with Schnieder. |

Not needed. Look at the years had by Smith and Elliott by being able to play with teams who bought in to a good defensive system. Protect your goalie well, and any of them can seem like a star.
Maybe not toskala.... |

Thanks for the list. I'm content to just let things play out. Suffice to say, I'm not as hopeful about the players on the list as you are. Having said that, TML management and fans have always, always over-estimated their players. It's called 'blue and white disease'. Hell, it cost us Tyler Seguin, Dougie Hamilton, and Jared Knight. Talk about prospects. |

Burke has gone from shrewd hockey man, to completely outta touch delusional IMBECILE in under 3 years in the toronto spotlight. The "pittsburgh model my ass"....hmmm...didn't the STANLEY cup champion BLACKHAWKS use the EXACT same model MINUS the best player in the game??? Boston used Kabelere and Toronto's own draft pick, and rode em to a cup. The guy simply thinks he has the assets to get Ryan Getzlaff or a guy like Eric Staal. What assets?? Colbourne has AHL bust written all over him, Kadri has talent but is as small as a bug, can't/WON'T defend, so he'll NEVER get a shake in Toronto rendering his value 1/4 what it should be, Gardiner can move the puck but has Marek Zidlicky written all over him, Schenn's been b#tchslapped into oblivion by the Toronto fans and media, and the only true asset, your 1st this year isn't good enough for one of those guys EVEN WITH all the players above INCLUDED. Plus he thinks he's simply gonna march down and get a Vokoun like deal....eh NO. But what has Burke REALLY accomplished in his tenure....
Day one...he promises a "REBUILT Leafs, featuring PUGNACITY, TRuculance, and TOUGHNESS". All this time later he's rebuilding AGAIN with all those traits in mind. What he actually delivered was THEE softest team in the league, with the best 40 goal scorer to never EVER score 40 goals who's thee softest player in the league with leadership that has toughness in the press box cause they can't skate. His area of suposed strenghth his trading, well let's see...Every deal Burke has pulled off with the ROYAL blessings of Leaf nation really haven't been the coup degraws you all envisioned. Phanuef for a bag of pucks....now really is Phanuef even worthy of a bag of pucks, he's slow, not physical, turtles when anyone bigger then Desharnais provokes him, and is thee worst defender EVER in the history of pilons. Toskala, Hagman for JS, Gardiner for Beachimin...THat's thee best deal right there, and it's an even deal cause Beauch can defend but not really score, gardiner can score but thinks da fence is da thing around da house.... Don't mention ANY Boston deal cause Burke got RAPED on them all....What's that Kaberle for Colbourne, yeah Kaberele has his name on a cup, Colbourne is an AHL bust that can't skte won't hit and will be out in round one with the rest of the much overrated SOFT marlies.....Eakin is THEE WHOLE story there....
So now Burke, a man with a vision he's gone NOWHERE with for 3 plus years is back to the vision he hopes will take em somewhere. Thee true DEFINATION of INSANITY is both doing the same thing over and over to abstract FAILURE and expecting a different result, and thee true defintion of Lemming is Believing anything the insane guy says as gospel and blindly following em anywhere to their demise.....You want to see the playoffs again in your lifetime LEAF NATION, I suggest you pray to every god there is Burke drives a car with him AND NONIS off a bridge, and Dudley gets to PROPERLY rebuild this team, cause the sounds that Tannenbaum and Burke are making are akin to desperate people that'll do anything and sacrifice anything to save their hides, and that spells DOOM for Leaf Nation....Enjoy winning the draft LOttery tonight and watching Burke deal the pick to Columbus for Nash, or worst Going OFF the board and selecting an American no one has heard of that is tough but has played competative hockey for like 6 months ala "Goon"....... - RichardPeterNuss

Luongo would probably be cheaper to acquire, I'd rather have him anyway, a proven goaltender that can play on crap teams, the panthers and still have respectable numbers. The same can't be said about Schneider, I think he's more a product of the team he's playing behind. |

I see it being for less then that, given his contract, and the Canucks need to resign Scneider. Not to mention, goalies don't really seem to fetch much on the open market these days. |

I'd like to see Burke offer sheet Schneider. Really put VAN in a tough situation.

He's not a proven #1 goalie though, and that's what we need, sooner or later the experiments need to stop. He hasn't played over 35 games in an NHL season, can he? He hasn't played on a subpar team, can he still perform? Can't have question marks anymore. |

Not only that, if Burke did that he'd have to give up picks for compensation, not worth it. |

A bright future to some means making 8th place and being a mediocre team.
Some people just have really low standards. - Unholy_Goalie
How ironic, once again.
You're a Leaf fan, and have declared you will never stop being one, yet you're throwing stones at the fact some people have really low standards.
Whats just as pathetic is you ranting about 8th place finishes on the very day the team is announced to be picking 5th overall. Anyways, carry on with your low standard Leaf obsession. |

The dont count because they aren't this teams prospects. Goodness, you're bright. Just because Seguin, Hamilton an Knight are better prospects than what we have doesnt mean every prospect Toronto has is a bust. |
