I think we need to just go hard after Parise and Suter. Get some big name assets in the organization.
Put whoever you have to in the minors to make space. Connolly, Armstrong, whoever.
Sign a veteran backup no matter what and then make a trade for a true #1 goalie. Maybe Lou will be availabe if VAN doesn't win the Cup with him.

yeah well.. while there is truth to that who saw skinner's potential?
just an example.
guys bloom at different times.. hell the leafs have mckegg and he went in the 3rd round... if he had bloomed one year sooner.. no way the leafs get him
i really do like gaunce.. not a flashy guy but an intangibles guy.. the type of guy the leafs are sorely lacking in their top 6 - Dozzer
If you like intangibles, you should like Faksa, that guy is growing on me. |

Of course there may be a gem hiding in there but I don't see a superstar or franchise player, I could be wrong, hell I hope I am for the Leafs sake. |

Would have been a nice year to have a couple of top ten picks.

Dumba they say can do it all: hit, score and shutdown.
He probably has to fill out a bit more but in 2 or 3 years who knows, regardless he has all the tools at this point in his career.

I'd say we are guaranteed Forsberg, and that's all, and I'm not exactly sure what type of player he will be. I'd rather just take Faksa with the 5, but Nash gets a bit of a bad name around here because of his high salary. - Leafland
I'm not sold of Faksa. The scouting reports on him seem kinda wonky, some scouts have him pushing for top 7, others have him not even in the top 10.
The consensus seems to be that Murray will go in the top 4. Galchenyuk is the 4th best north american skater, but will fall 5 before Forsberg.
But if not, Forsberg should be a solid player. Big right handed centreman. Remind you of anybody? lol |

I don't see that order staying. MTL and TOR desperately need to make an impression on their fan base. What better excitement than to trade up and get the #1.
EDM doesn't need another forward. My opinion I think they take the best dman available by trading down and likely getting a great prospect for giving up the #1.

I understand that fans will want to see them do something, I'm not exactly sure Nail is worth trading for, we just need to get lucky and hope Gal falls to us because hes the player we need. |

Luke Schenn and our #5 to get Yakupov? '
Oilers get Schenn and can take Forsberg or a d-man like Dumba,Rielly or Reinhart
I think if a trade will happen it will be Columbus trying to get their well-deserved #1 pick back. Oilers should be getting Ryan Murray. This is just too much, talk about distracting us from playoffs eh? |

enough character guys who are developed properly will win championships without "the franchise player"
boston proved it last year.. one of the leafs BIGGEST weaknesses in my eyes is balanced scoring throughout the lineup.. the top line produced.. the secodn line.. well.. not the best year.. hoping they find themselves next season once again
but scoring from the depth lines was practically non existant
really? whats a top tier centre going to do? add maybe 15 goals over bozak and possibly push kessel up 4 or 5 more goals?
the "top line centre" need isnt the biggest one imo |

Agreed, i think if you want to look at helping the forward group, you start by adding a real 2nd and 3rd line. Leafs had the most expensive, poopty, third line ever assembled. |
