I think Edmonton's best move will be to trade that pick for a top prospect d-man, or a very good young d-man already in the NHL. The Leafs have a lot of d-men they could trade...none that would be good straight up for the 1st overall pick, but they could get it done. I don't know enough about Montreal's prospect pool, do they have any good upcoming d-men they could afford to part with for that pick?

enough character guys who are developed properly will win championships without "the franchise player"

boston proved it last year.. one of the leafs BIGGEST weaknesses in my eyes is balanced scoring throughout the lineup.. the top line produced.. the secodn line.. well.. not the best year.. hoping they find themselves next season once again

really? whats a top tier centre going to do? add maybe 15 goals over bozak and possibly push kessel up 4 or 5 more goals?

Edm will not trade the #1 pick, they will draft Yakupov.. in no way has Tamb shown he is willing to take a risk and shake things up to try to make the Oil better through a trade to address a need.

I agree. We have a decent team when all are healthy. We should have been in the playoffs. I don't know what happened in February to make the wheels fall off, but with a few changes to the 3rd and 4th line to add some depth scoring and we should be fine. Especially if the team buys into Carlyle's defensive structure.

not so much that he has his head down (a lot)...but he skates real low to get more power out of his legs, so he says. But yea...could cause problems when playing with the big boys.
