I don't see that order staying. MTL and TOR desperately need to make an impression on their fan base. What better excitement than to trade up and get the #1.
EDM doesn't need another forward. My opinion I think they take the best dman available by trading down and likely getting a great prospect for giving up the #1. - leafs93

I think Edmonton's best move will be to trade that pick for a top prospect d-man, or a very good young d-man already in the NHL. The Leafs have a lot of d-men they could trade...none that would be good straight up for the 1st overall pick, but they could get it done. I don't know enough about Montreal's prospect pool, do they have any good upcoming d-men they could afford to part with for that pick? |

yeah.. but will burke go euro?
you know his whole "character" requirement thing - Dozzer
Yeah, if it's the best player available I think he would.
But remember Wendel...he wasn't expected to go 1st overall...and that worked out well...maybe Burke pulls a gem like that out of his ass...

Plays everywhere, in the Swedish league, i think they'd rather have a dedicated centerman. |

enough character guys who are developed properly will win championships without "the franchise player"
boston proved it last year.. one of the leafs BIGGEST weaknesses in my eyes is balanced scoring throughout the lineup.. the top line produced.. the secodn line.. well.. not the best year.. hoping they find themselves next season once again
but scoring from the depth lines was practically non existant
really? whats a top tier centre going to do? add maybe 15 goals over bozak and possibly push kessel up 4 or 5 more goals?
the "top line centre" need isnt the biggest one imo - Dozzer
Do you see a character guy in the top 5? I don't from what I read, again I hope we find the right guy. |

I understand that fans will want to see them do something, I'm not exactly sure Nail is worth trading for, we just need to get lucky and hope Gal falls to us because hes the player we need. - Leafland
I don't know a lot about Nail, but he does have better numbers than Stamkos did at the same age playing for the same team in Junior... |

Usually those "character guys" are found later in the draft are they not? There are obviously exceptions |

Edm will not trade the #1 pick, they will draft Yakupov.. in no way has Tamb shown he is willing to take a risk and shake things up to try to make the Oil better through a trade to address a need.

I think people need to calm their hope down a bit on this top 5 pick, in my opinion there is no saviour here. |

Jbold said he watched some Nail highlights and noticed that he had his head down a lot, if that's the case, it could cause problems down the road. |

I agree. We have a decent team when all are healthy. We should have been in the playoffs. I don't know what happened in February to make the wheels fall off, but with a few changes to the 3rd and 4th line to add some depth scoring and we should be fine. Especially if the team buys into Carlyle's defensive structure. |

I don't think Burkie takes a Russian.
Imagine trading up for #1 and then the guy goes to the KHL.
He would never risk that, not after all the bad stuff that has happened already.
He needs low risk calculated moves now.

not so much that he has his head down (a lot)...but he skates real low to get more power out of his legs, so he says. But yea...could cause problems when playing with the big boys. |
