I'm not about to get into a pissing match with you, but I think BB deflected that question quite well. Pittsburgh using the draft was more than just Crosby. But BB make it out to be about the one year they won a "lottery".

BURKE is the one who went on about the Crosby lottery. The question was much broader, Burke went on about Pittsburgh fluking out on Crosby as the reason why they are where they are now

i feel worse for them than for us haha. Like other teams are like already decent like edmonton and colorado but they can just never seem to get out of the hole.

I'm not denying that Ray Shero is a good GM and has done a great job. Im just saying that people are skewing his comments and making it seem like he is implying that it's not a good model. Nobody wants to point out Burke crediting Shero as being a great manager. All he was saying was that they got lucky because they got the best player in the game. He was saying that what happened to Pittsburgh was not available to him and he was right. Is Nail Yakupov a Sidney Crosby caliber player? No. I'm not standing up for Burke as a GM in general, I am just defending him for his Pittsburgh statements where he meant no harm whatsoever.

You know it takes awhile for non-superstar type players to develop, people gotta be patient and the GM has to have a PLAN. Daniel and Henrik were 25 years old before they scored 70+ pts, their previous high was mid 40's. Same with Kesler, he became a good two way center who could contribute offensively at the age of 24/25.

That said, BB just doesn't seem to have a plan? He fills holes with bad decisions instead of patience. His famous words are he builds from the net out through the defense. Are you friggin kidding me? He's had one legit highend goaltender on one of his teams in his life and the guy wasn't even his...Giggy.

Start by getting a couple good young centers, then a couple of good young wingers, draft defensemen in the second or third rounds letting them mature gradually, draft a goaltender or sign one and develop him. Colorado is doing this exact same thing, are they there yet...no. But they're on their way.

After watching Burkes little apology he made it clear that things were going to change. But he also stated that he believes in our 2nd line and that you cant build championship teams without the "lupuls and the kessels". Implying that neither of those 2 lines are going to change. Unless he just flat out lied, i don't know how he expects to "dictate" the game in an opposing teams building with top 2 lines like that.
