After watching Burkes little apology he made it clear that things were going to change. But he also stated that he believes in our 2nd line and that you cant build championship teams without the "lupuls and the kessels". Implying that neither of those 2 lines are going to change. Unless he just flat out lied, i don't know how he expects to "dictate" the game in an opposing teams building with top 2 lines like that.

Okay HONESTLY people, how in the hell do you expect the Leafs to dramatically improve next year. I keep hearing Dump Army, Komi, Lombardi, and Connolly in the minors, trade for a guy like Getzlaff, and sign a 1A free agent Goalie. Problem is 2 fold, A) BEttman's already TOLD every last GM that while he expects about a 7-10% salary rollback again, there will BE NO buyout clauses/amnesty, and the whole bury Redden in the minors thing will DEFINATELY be ELIMINATED in the next CBA as "leakage" will be INCLUDED. So all the salary dumps start in Toronto cause NO ONE will take em unless you ship your 1st off with em. Again who do you trade for a #1 center??? Trading your 1st is stupidity SQUARED, Gardiner ain't leaving, so who do you have that 23-26 other teams can't beat for deals??? The sad reality is basically the same team that finished the year will be the same one that hits the ice in the fall minus a guy like Harding signing, and maybe some added size in the 3/4 lines. You'll still have a d that can't defend, an offence that sputters when the presure gets amped up (see Kessel getting owned like a beeitch by Sequin every single time that B's have played the Leafs), so even if you win the draft lotto, get Nail and somehow pawn Lupul off on someone for even Max value, Lupal ain't getting you a young number 1 center, so where does the improvement come from + Allaire is still there to screw over whichever new goalie you get.....it'
s bleak in toronto right now whether you accept reality or not...Dudley's the ONLY one to know how to build quickly from scratch....

Is a good example of a team that had a celebrity coach in Wayne Gretzky and failed miserably. When they hired an actual NHL coach they started making the playoffs and getting near 100 pts. That's an example of poor management right there. Anyone heard of the NYI coach before? They can't spend money on Long Island because the owner won't let them, thus they can't surround Tavares with guys like Parise and Sutter. If they could, they'd be a very good team.

st.louis is a perfect example, good drafting, good development,a couple nice trades, add a few veteran pieces.
