My lone issue with the Campbell apology is, quite simply, that there's blown calls in every game. Is good ol Collie going to come out after every game with a list, or will it just be apologies to the Penguins?
You can't challenge them, as Laviolette did. You can't criticize them, as Tortorella did and now, when there's a bad call, the league apologizes to them. I don;t buy that there's a conspiracy, but the NHL sure does nothing to dispel that junk. - Jsaquella
I agree. I respect Ray Shero and Dan Bylsma and really have nothing against anyone playing on the team. I also don't believe in any conspiracy theories. However, there are things about the way the NHL has handled situations involving Pittsburgh that have rankled me because the same consideration doesn't seem to go to others.

Good points. My biggest issue is I don't think it was very fair to the linesman.

You better believe it. Pens will come hard which may help the flyers later in the game of they can get through the first period. I thought the pens burned a lot of energy in the first period of game 1. Flyers just have to play their game and not let pittsburghs forechecking get to them. I think the first game was a learning process for a lot of the young guys. Now they know what to expect. I'd look for Schenn to make his presence felt early. - funmaster18
Yeah, MAB learned it is a different game come playoff time. He got rocked a few times in game 1.
Hopefully Kubina, with a couple extra days, off is feeling a little better and can help settle that initial storm. Kubina getting back to pre-injury form would be a huge plus.

I hope the Linesman don't feel the need to help the Penguins in game two, because they feel they messed up in game 1. |

Linesman's calls affected both teams in Game 1.

The only superstition i have is: I wear the same Flyers shirt for every game until a lose, then I switch to another one.

Absolutely. I'm not blaming the Penguins because the NHL seems to go out of it's way to comfort them.
Just find it funny that criticizing the Pittsburgh organization is worth a $20,000 fine and a player doing a WWE style turnbuckle head slam is only worth a $2500 fine, and that a blown call that hurt the Pens was apology worthy, while a blown call-by the SAME linesman-that had the exact same result wasn't. |

It wasn't fair to the linesman, but at the same time you really need to avoid any kind of grandstanding that makes it seem like the league or officials have a bias in the series. |

Nope. His diatribe against the NHL after the Isles "head hunter" game last season saw Lemieux get no fines for his comments about the NHL. |

Doubtful. Officials are professionals. Above all, they want to get the calls right.

Campbell would like to also apologize to Pittsburgh, that they are the only team he apologized to. It made them look like they were favored and as such has embarrassed them. He's terribly sorry. |

It's going to be tough to focus on the game tonight with one eye on the compelling devils/panthers series. |
