Maybe he'll sell the Flyers, buy another team, and change the spelling because it's always been wrong but he never wanted to cause any kerfluffle by correcting it here? |

Jagr won't take a paycut to stay here, nor should he. The same $3.3 M he got this year MIGHT do it on another one year.
Carle at $3.5 M would be a less than $100,000 cap hit increase and, if cap hit matched salary, an actual pay CUT from the $3.8 M the team paid him this year. Obviously, that's not happening.
Kubina is going to have to take a significant paycut wherever he goes, but not a 60 percent pay cut.
Voracek will be a tough negotiation for the 2nd straight year. I do think he'll end up going to about $3.25 M.
Bourdon sounds about right. - bmeltzer
I said a few days ago that Jagr wouldn't be taking a paycut, of course those who like to argue for the sake of arguing did so. (That's beyond old)
Jagr has had a fairly solid season, but considering his advanced age, and propensity for groin and leg injuries, I would think, and hope Jake Voracek would be the priority among the unsigned players. |

I went to school with Tina, we were pretty good friends way back then.
I didn't know the older sister Lindy very well. |

It remains to be seen what Jagr will or won't do. I don't know who your referring to, but I recall that I offered the opinion that there is a possibility due to a number of factors, that Jagr would take a hometown discount to stay with the Flyers. |

From your mouth to God's ears... I'd LOVE to see us come out in this game and go for the jugular in this series. If they win tonight, the Pens and the NHL will be beside themselves. I expect another apology from Campbell. "we're sorry the Flyers won again".. |

In all fairness, didn't Jagr already say that money isn't the main issue and he was offered more money to play elsewhere? |

He's said a lot of things I guess. Bill thinks he won't take a pay cut. But that doesn't make it a given. I have a hard time seeing the Flyers being able to bring him back if he doesn't take a pay cut.

Just finished reading the Henrik Lundqvist cover story in Sports Illustrated. While I think Lundqvist is a tremendous goaltender who will win his first Vezina this season -- and seems like a real decent person off the ice -- I thought the article was a joke.
Apparently Martin Brodeur is a "scrambling, sprawling" goalie -- gee, and for all these years we've heard his positioning and economy of motion were his greatest strengths -- who "has cause for envy" of Lundqvist and "even his compliments are sometimes freighted with sarcasm."
I mean, why wouldn't a guy whom some consider the best goaltender in NHL history (I don't, but I know full well how great he was for many, many years) be jealous? Brodeur has three Cups rings, four Vezinas and holds numerous all-time records. Lundqvist, at 30, is about to win his first Vezina and (as of now) has not been on a team that has reached the ECF round. I can see why Brodeur would secretly feel his career hasn't matched up to Lundqvist's.
The profile also helpfully informs us that shootouts are "an apt barometer of goaltending skill" and that, in game action, goalies who play far back in their crease are in better position to make saves.
The rest of the article is mostly a bunch of "I love New York" stuff, expressed about 10 different ways.

Athletes always say it's not about the money, by in large 99.9% of the time it is about the money. Very rarely does a player in any sport leave a red cent on the table. Could Jagr be the .01%? I highly doubt it. To be quite honest I'm not sure how much interest there will be in Jagr, so if the Flyers are bidding against themselves they could get him at a fair price. |

It is rare, but it does happen. We'll have to see how it plays out. If teams feel that Jagr can repeat what he did this year, there will be plenty of interest. It also matters where Jagr is willing to go.

Ugh.... 2000 vs. New Jersey. That's the only one I can think of, but in their second Cup year, the Flyers did lose a 3-0 series lead to the Islanders (who had just pulled off a comeback from 3-0 in the previous round) before winning Game 7 in a blowout.

They just showed it on NBC, and holy poop did that thing come down hard and Krejci's neck got totally bent. That could have seriously broke his neck. That pane of glass weighs 120 pounds. |

I don't want him back that bad. Appreciate what he's done, but if he does want more money then by all means, best of wishes, it's been real.
