How come Zetterberg didn't get the star treatment? What happens if Weber headslams Crosby? Why didn't Shanahan help out his old Detroit buddies?

Totally understand. The NHL caters to those boys in yellow and black. Then again it makes sense when Malkin and Crosby play for that team. Have to satisfy the needs to protect the faces of the NHL. |

It's part of the game. And I think in a lot of cases, far too much is being made of it. - MJL
Like when Crosby engaged Jagr and then flailed around like he was on skates for the first time ever? |

I've been hit with a puck while wearing hockey gear...the area is quite well protected. It's not as if the guy was wearing a pair of cargo shorts and boxers.
You realize that the guy was wearing padded hockey pants, a padded girdle and a carbon flex cup that is designed to withstand a 100 mph slap shot. - Jsaquella
True BUT, what about that guys mental state after being known as the guy that Cyndy Crosby nut punched? There is not a piece of protective equipment in the world that can stop that kind of humiliation. |

I'm actually surprised that Malkin isnt on this list. No surprise most of the players on that list are big market teams. |

Yes, far too much was made of what Crosby did. Jagr shouldn't have stuck his arm out. Has a Flyer ever held a stick that was put into him to try and draw a hooking call? It happens to every team. |

I'm not surprised. Crosby's popular not only because of his skill level, but because he's also a national hero in Canada. But we're not the only fanbase that hates the Pens.
I was listening to XM yesterday and there were lots Rangers, Devils and Caps fans rooting for the Flyers in game one. Maybe they see the Flyers as an easier out, but when asked, they admitted it was as much because they hate the Pens as anything else.
That's the problem in NHL marketing. When you overload the marketing of one team/player you're going to have fans in other cities getting sick of them. |

the girl behind lava with the headband was talking smack whenever they spoke to lava,
saying go home, waving bye bye, and rubbing her eyes like she was crying/boohooing at lava
i was hoping to see the look on her face in the later stages... thx scottie. |

Colin Campbell would have to apologize to the Pens for having their season end earlier than planned. - Jsaquella
This is why Leagues such as the NHL, shouldn't allow people like Campbell to speak publicly on issues. This is why you have PR departments and hire professional spokesman. Because whether or not it is the intent, he comes off as favoring one team. What should have been said, and said by a spokesman, is that the NHL tries to get the calls right, but mistakes are made. And not mentioning just one situation and one team. Because is that going to be the only blown call in the playoffs? And is Campbell going to apologise for all of them? This is what adds fire to the conspiracy theorists. |

What Crosby did on that play was down right embarrassing. The guy has the best balance in the league.. and is far faster than a 40 year old Jagr. Its one of the reason I cant stand him. I hate the fact that the guy is the most talented player in the world.. yet he still pulls these stunts. Its also my biggest gripe with Briere, and Carcillo (when he was here).. and why I have so much respect for Giroux. |

My lone issue with the Campbell apology is, quite simply, that there's blown calls in every game. Is good ol Collie going to come out after every game with a list, or will it just be apologies to the Penguins?
You can't challenge them, as Laviolette did. You can't criticize them, as Tortorella did and now, when there's a bad call, the league apologizes to them. I don;t buy that there's a conspiracy, but the NHL sure does nothing to dispel that junk. - Jsaquella
agreed
deal with the linesman, don't come out and get upset about one of several blown calls |

Campbell would like to also apologize to Pittsburgh, that they are the only team he apologized to. It made them look like they were favored and as such has embarrassed them. He's terribly sorry. - nfph

Exactly my point.
Yep, we missed that call. We've missed calls in the past. We're going to miss calls in the future. It happens. We'll strive for perfection in game officiation, despite knowing that it's not a possibility.

It's part of the game. I have zero issue with what Crosby did there. It's part of what makes him great. Do anything within reason to win. Flyers should do the same. |
