If that doesn't show favoritism what does? Does the NHL apologize to any other team where refs make mistakes during the playoffs? - stveshdy
In my opinion, it's not favortism, it's naivety and stupidity. And why some League execs should shut it and let the media relations experts handle it.

From TSN.... "Flyers forward Brayden Schenn rammed Paul Martin into the boards, turned around and was shoved to the ice by Asham. Asham jumped a defenceless Schenn and connected with a vicious right to earn the match penalty -- a penalty imposed on a player who deliberately attempts to injure or who deliberately injures an opponent in any manner. Asham could get suspended for the punch."
That's not even close to what happened. It wasn't a punch. |

I just think is favoritism bc their the only team that gets an apology. Thats a disgrace when your willing to send that out but you dont do that for the other clubs in the league. They have to keep their Pens happy and the NHL poster child. |

Once Schenn was down on the ice, Asham got on top of him and was punching him. But what he got the match penalty for was the crosscheck to the throat.

I don't believe that is intentional. Campbell just lacks the media savvy to know what that will look like. There is no favoritism for any team, or any conspiracies going on. |

Nah I dissagree MJL, media Savvy or not, Campbell must have no common sense then. It doesn't take a media guru to know that no other team has received an apology for a missed offsides call. |

I dont think their is a conspiracy, but it just looks bad when you do that. Gives the wrong impression to other clubs and fans. |

Joe this is why Organizations hire Media Consultants and have professional spokesman. Because League and Company execs put their foot in their mouth. It's why even the President of the United States has a press Secretary, and professional speech writers to write their public comments. If what you say is true, then those people would be out of a job. |

Exactly.
Also, I need to go back and watch the Schenn hit on Martin... I don't remember the "ramming Martin into the boards"... Bad word choice. Martin was already against the boards, boarding wasn't called. |

Absolutely it does. That's why Campbell should shut up, and let a media professional speak for the League.

YOu have a point about the press consultants, but do we have a consultant telling us the fans that this was a major snafu? IF the NHL is paying such consultants, which Im sure they are, then that makes it worse. Besides Campbell should know damn well no team ever had its ass kissed in such a fashion, I'm sorry. |
