Neal's two hearings will be phone. Asham's will be an in person hearing. - Jsaquella
Leads me to believe they are hitting Asham off with more games. Neal was more offensive in what he did in my opinion. Would rather Neal get more suspension time and not because he's more important to the pens but what he did was more abrasive. He went out of his way to injure two different players. At least asham was responding to what he thought was a dirty hit even if he responded dirty I can accept it more. |

Where did you hear this? NHL.com just published one about it and it doesn't say. I'm just trying to find an article or something that says it. |

Whats the Shanban predictions? I say Asham gets 10 games. Neal gets a fine and a game maybe 2 |

you're absolutely right. asham acted on his own in that instance. however the leadership element of his team, imo, strongly encourages that type of behavior. it was also a heat of the moment act by asham - flyerscup2011
So, when the Flyers had 5 or 6 guys suspended in 2007-08, it was the team leadership's fault?
The first two games were pretty clean affairs. Neither team really did anything too bad in the games in Pittsburgh.
Yesterday, the Pens got frustrated. That happens, and sometimes it leads to dirty play. The Flyers have been guilty of it in the past and so has every other team in the NHL.
You want to blame Pens' leadership, it starts with Lemieux. He did the same sort of things Crosby does now. He was an amazing player, perhaps the most naturally gifted one of all time. But he was-and remains-a very thin skinned guy. |

I would rather switch the sanctions you have predicted. Like I said above I think what Neal did was worse. |

It was tweeted first by Nick Kypreos, and then by other NHL writers.
Neal's hearings will be simultaneously at 10 am(not two calls, but two hearings, likely to make sure both incidents will be on his jacket) and Asham will be an in person hearing at 11am |

I'd be amazed if Asham didn't at least get the balance of this series. He could get the Matt Cooke ban, which would be the rest of the playoffs, plus games next season.
I'm more livid at Neal, because I know that Asham has that dirty side to him. Neal doesn't have that kind of rep. |

Crosby is an ambassador for the game. He is a role model to thousands of kids. He is the face of the sport. The C on his chest is supposed to signify leadership and a voice of reason in times of adversity. What he did yesterday was absolutely a disgrace to the game. - hereticpride
Absolutely. He's a punk. Enough said |

If the Pens followed Crosby's lead, they would have swatted away gloves after scrums and hid behind the linesmen.
Asham's hit on Schenn was in response to Schenn's big hit on Niskanen(Pretty sure it was Niskanen). Neal's hit on Couturier probably had more to do with Couturier's early hit on him and the later hit on Giroux was probably based in frustration.
Guys are responsible for their own actions. Blaming Crosby for the hits from Asham and Neal is like blaming Bobby Clarke for Dave Schultz pulling Dale Rolfe's hair in 1974. - Jsaquella
I was agreeing that Crosby isnt responcible for those guys actions, but it is his responcibility that the team plays within the rules. He went about it the wrong way. A captain shouldn't act like that. |

The captain definitely set the tone for that team that's for sure. |

not to mention when this came up this year, the players taped Cs onto their practice jerseys as a show of solidarity. and their playoff t-shirts are replicas of that.

Actually, it's ultimately the coach's job to make sure the team plays within the rules.
I hate to bring it up, but yesterday's game, while wild, was hardly an embarrassment to the NHL or even close to being one of the most vicious games in it's history.
During the 1980's, yesterday's game happened three times a week. Five times a week in the playoffs. It's not a disgrace or a travesty, it's a game that got a bit out of hand.
The embarrassing thing is, that the NHL and the Penguins, generally hold themselves up as some kind of shining beacon of fair play and clean, but physical hockey. That particular PR spin died and was buried yesterday afternoon.
