I'm just going to throw this out there, but Malkin got an instigator with about a minute left in Game 2 of the 2009 Stanley Cup Finals for attacking Zetterberg and didn't get suspended. He didn't even get a fine.

Hopefully it will be embarrasing and humiliating for Crosby to have to shake the Flyers hands.
- MJL

Amen, sir. It's a great day to be a Flyers fan.

He has no class so it wouldnt surprise me if he went straight to the locker room when the game ended. However, I hope the Captain has more respect then to do that.
- stveshdy

He has shown nothing in this series that even suggests he is qualified to be a captain. Skill does not a captain make.

Because the Instigator penalty was rescinded.
- MJL

To me thats the worst thing they can do. Ultimately.. Zetterberg and Malkin received the same punishment.. even though Malkin engaged him and started wailing on him before Z had a chance to protect himself, or oblige and drop the mitts.

Same thing yesterday. Crosby grabs Hartnell and instigated the whole thing (not in the penalty sense), Adams come in and starts wailing on Hartnell (3rd man in as well) and ultimately forces Hartnell to protect himself, and fight.

There shouldnt be a way to rescind something like that.

I don't really have any recall of what happened back then, so other then the instigator being rescinded, I can't really comment on it.

Crosby's antics and post game comments are simply a manifestation of the NHL bending over backwards to defend him for 7 years. The simple fact is, Crosby's always played with a level of chippiness. He's always been more than willing to stir the pot.

We see it in the articles written and the TV coverage, where guys that cover the NHL for a living seem stunned that Crosby would play and act like this. I don't have the level of hatred for Crosby that a lot of Flyers fans do, but I have always felt he was a sneaky/chippy guy that acted like he had a chip on his shoulder.

It seems like everyone that covers the NHL just suddenly realized that Crosby's not a perfect guy, now that his heavily favored team is having discipline and defensive breakdowns like they have no leadership.

I don't think it's a coincidence that the main guy Asham has targeted is one that he never played with in Philly. That's not uncommon.

Despite some reputed off-ice issues, Asham served the Flyers well during his time here. He was quite good in the 2010 playoffs.

I was not happy at all when they let him go, particularly when he went to the Pens.

Honestly, calling out the Pens players for what they did, and then using terms like peng-wines, softens the message. The Pens players were disrespectful and dishonorable in their actions. Not all them, but some of them. As fans we should not stoop to that level by using terms such as peng-wines. And I understand that the two thing aren't nearly the same level. But why give anyone a chance to use that stuff and throw it back?
- MJL

that's fair. i just think it's such a fitting name that almost sounds like i'm saying the name right if you hear it in your head.

The NHL is getting what it deserves in this. They coo'd over Crosby from day 1. Was there ever any doubt that he would turn into a spoiled brat punk that feels like he is entitled to do whatever he wants and have it justified by the league and media? Just like spoiled brat kids of millionaires. Now the NHL is skating a thin line.

I know everyone's pumped about the circus that happened but at this point I'm over it. We are blowing them out of the water and exposing them for what they are: Scum.

That being said this series reminds me very much of the 1995 playoffs when the Flyers swept the Rangers who at the time were defending champs. If I remember correctly the Flyers went down by 3 or 4 goals early in the first two games, definitely game one. Hextall was a little shaky but got it together as the series went on.

Gotta close out Wednesday. Can't let them back in this series. I think Bryz will have a monster game and the Flyers slam the door on a team that no one in the mainstream media gave them a chance against!

Believe the instigating suspension is only the last 5 minutes of the game right? What would Letang be suspended for? Hate that he went after a guy like Timmo but I don't see any way the league could/will suspend him.

man, when we drafted him i was a little irked we didn't get hamilton, mr holmgren, i'll never doubt you again.
- flyerscup2011

Purely in terms of positional need, Hamilton would have been the logical pick at #8. However, when a player like Couturier drops into your lap like he did, positional need takes a back seat. That he slipped that far will be the topic of draft conversation for 10 years.

there's a code when you fight in the national hockey league, mr letang did not abide by it, not by a long shot. the jersey over the head, the fight going to the ground, the way he threw kimmo to the ice and also the shh to the crowd. i guess he didn't realize his team was losing in the game and even worse in the series.

I agree with all this. I was just wondering what you see a suspension coming for. They don't suspend players for breaking the code. Heck they don't really even always suspend players for breaking the rules so.......

Yesterday, the Penguins showed what they lost when Talbot walked. They lost a leader, and a player who knows how to reverse adversity.

Tbh, they basically handed over their Captain to us. There isn't anyone close on that team in terms of having a level head. Staal and MAF maybe.

that's so true. it would be hard. the video tells the story. the story of a player who does not have respect for his opponent. they could call it conduct detrimental to the league
