There must be a lot of financial pressure on Shanahan. These fights/hits draw the blood-thirsty and the vicarious, which seems to be a significant component of the game's viewership. How sad. |

true.
though I did expect Shanny to be a hard ass when he started. I expected long suspensions left and right ... not the stuff we've seen. |

Expecting more than a game or two for Neal was expecting too much. The fact that his hearing was by phone and Asham's was in person meant that Asham was going to be gone longer.
I expected 1-2 games for Neal & 4-5 for Asham. |

Assuming you saw the Torres hit on Hossa, do you think it is suspension worthy? If so how many games?
After hearing the ruling on Neal I would think Torres will get the same. They both are repeat offenders.

don't think anyone is arguing what was expected, but what should have happened. Wonder if the ruling would be different tomorrow after Torres hit, more pressure for a longer suspension. |

They accept Neal's explanation that he accidentally collided with Couturier and that he jumped in the air to brace himself for a collision.

That's part of it. But, hey, I like a lot of hitting and a physical game. But somebody has to police it. Either the NHL has to do it or they have to let the players do it |

So Shanny bought Neal's explanation that running into Couturier was an "accident"? I'm not going to waste my time watching his video. I'm not sure why he wastes his making them anymore |

I'd say 10 for Torres. He's worse and hossa is totally franked up |

Torres will get a far more significant penalty. Hossa is hurt, and Torres' history is far more violent than Neal's. |

Obviously if Couturier or Giroux develop concussion symptoms, the Neal suspension gets amended.

He steam rolled Seabrook last year when he was with Vancouver. I think he was the one who cheap shotted JVR. It's his MO and he deserves the book thrown at him. - KINGKENZO
I'd have to take another look at the Seabrook hit again but I think I was OK with it not being a suspension last year. This hit on Hossa is a deadly hit that I think he should be suspended for. He doesn't need to make the hit, it's late and he launches into Marian at full speed. Just so reckless and lethal. Hossa is a big big man too. Ugh my stomach turned watching that. |
