I thought they got him with the other pick.
- Scottie Upshall
Nick Cousins was the other pick. He's probably going to be a Flyer in a year or two at most. They love him...feisty little bastard |

Here is why game 4 will not be like game 3, thus eliminating the talk of dressing Shelly.
1. Penguins are playing for their playoff lives in this game. It's going to be all about trying to score, and you can bet BILEsma has told them that. They will try to not get into the after the whistle scrums.
2. If the Penguins get far ahead in the game you can bet with the way the let games 1 and 2 get away from them, again they will be focusing on holding the lead, and not the rough stuff. Plus, you can be Lavi will tell his guys not to get involved in this stuff to not give Pittsburgh any more momentum then a win would give them.
3. If the Flyers jump out to a huge lead then Pittsburgh has nothing to play for. No tomorrow to send a message for. No reason to try and hurt other players. Plus you can bet that Lavi will limit the shifts of the top guys as a "just in case".
In any other secenerio the Penguins will be trying to win the game, not the rough stuff. There is absolutely no reason to dress Shelly. - RooNosHockey
if the Flyers get out to a big lead, what makes you think the Pens wont take runs at players out of frustration? afterall, they would be getting embarrassed and having their season ended. dont you think they'd like to see the flyers shorthanded in the next round and lose? |

If the Pens fall behind far and early, and they really dislike the Flyers, why not send a message with physical play?
Also, if I'm the Pens, whenever Rinaldo's on the ice, I'm banging him and trying to get him to lose his cool and give me a PP.
I don't agree with dressing Shelley myself, but it's not a dumb idea.

The Flyers are the ones up 3-0. I don't see the need to change the lineup even for 1 player. I wouldn't make changes, business as usual. Having Shelley replace Zac doesn't make sense to me.
Pitt will be physical but nothing like on Sunday. They need to focus on the game and win or the season is over for them. Wednesday's game will be the toughest one yet. I predict a much lower scoring game too.
Bryz needs to be better than he was in Game 3. |

Here's where your points are off. The Pens were playing for their playoff lives in game 3. Getting down 3-0 is the kiss of death in a Series. Listen to Crosby's after game comments. Doesn't sound like a player that is looking to be composed. There is hatred between these 2 teams. And game 3 didn't blow over because the Pens were trying to send a message. It was because the Pens were incredibly frustrated.

Agreed. The Pens weren't trying to send a message in game 3. They were pissed off and frustrated. That could easily happen again if the Pens get down big in game 4.

Jeff Carter to the Columbus Blue Jackets for winger Jake Voracek and a 1st round pick(Sean Couturier) and 3rd round pick(Nick Cousins) in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.
Other deal?
Mike Richards and Rob Bordson to the Los Angeles Kings for winger Wayne Simmonds, center Brayden Schenn and a second round draft choice in the 2012 NHL Enrty draft(later traded to Tampa Bay) |

It is a small factor in the overall game. He is there in case the game get's out of hand again. That is the only reason. - MJL
What exactly is he going to do IF the game gets out of hand???? The days of "I'm going to send my enforcer out to beat up your enforcer" days are over. And nobody else is going to drop the gloves with him. There is ZERO reason to dress Shelly tomorrow. You have plenty of guys that can defend thier linemates if they absolutely need to. You would be playing into the Penguins hands by dressing Shelly. The reason we are winning these games is because we roll 4 lines that can score, adding Shelly hurts that, and helps the Penns in a game they most likely have ZERO intention of getting tough in... |

I'm not up for changing the line up, but I can agree with him that putting Shelley in the line up leaves us less prone to bad penalties. He doesn't have Rinaldo's attitude, nor a target on his back for the referees of Rinaldo's magnitude.
That said, I think the difference is minimal, the Flyers will come out tomorrow prepared to step on the Penguins throats and end this series. No bullpoop. - BulliesPhan87
If your worried about Rinaldo take penalities, then dress Holmstom or Zulnerczyk, not Shelly. |

Let the Ref's control it. If the Flyers jump out to a heavy early lead, you have them sit back in a defensive posture, dont get aggressive and sit your top guys... |

I think it's almost a non-issue, miniscule detail. The thing is, it's not like we'd send Shelley out to fight another enforcer. We'd put him on the ice in a fourth line role. If he's on the ice, they're not going to start more of their temper-tantrum hair-pulling horsecrap. Again, it's hardly a consideration.
Either way, infinitely more important is that the top three lines come into this game ready to go for the throat. Put a handful of quick goals up on MAF and call it a series, we're done babysitting these Pittsburgh children. |

I believe if you thought of this... so did our coaching staff, and most likely they have addressed it with Rinaldo... and if he did seem to be getting frustrated, there is a nice long bench for him to sit on... Just like Shelly would be sitting. At least Rinaldo plays on the checking line, and you dont have to limit the lines ice time because of Schelly. |

I'm just going to disagree. Game 4 wont be like game 3. Shelly shouldnt dress. We have gone over our 3 page limit for this discussion, so I'm done... Whats the next topic? I thought Carle was awful in game 3... |

They've addressed this with Rinaldo all season long, from what he has said and the coaches have said in interviews. Yet he was still second in the NHL in PIM.
There's also the fact that Rinaldo has a bit of a target on his back with the refs, meaning that things that he does that are borderline will get called, when another player wouldn't.
You won't have to limit ice time because of Shelley, either. If it's a tie game in the third, neither Shelley or Rinaldo would play much. In games where the score was lopsided, Shelley has been able to handle 7-9 minutes of ice time with no adverse affects. |
